Strange one this. Can installed but unopened programmes affect others? I had installed 13th Skulls, played, and completed it with constant screen freeze-up-uninstalled it with a certain amount of disgust and gone on to play CSI, Alternativa and currently Lost Horizon with no problems at all. I (in a moment of madress) re-installed 13th Skulls with the intention of playing again just in case a update had appeared!. Guess what, Lost Horizon started freezing up every few minutes. Needless to say have uninstalled the cursed thing. (13th Skulls that is) and have resumed my non-freezing up game. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just a quirk in my system. I have Win 7,Nvidia 8600 GT.

Folks - this is not uncommon and it's not specifically tied to games. It happens with XP, Vista, and Windows 7. I even run into it on MACs and Linux machines!!
It occurs when some elements of installed programs clash with each other - either on a resource level, memory space level, or even when a program "grabs" interrupts on hardware like video cards, sound cards, memory, and CPU functions.
Yes MACS and Linux machines are not immune either! Usually it's poorly written software for any operating system that just does not release any of the processes correctly or not at all!!
Well - books can be written on this subject. Sometimes you only need to uninstall the offender and reinstall it, or get get rid of it.
From the sound of it - I would say 13 Skulls is the culprit.

Knowing me, I'd install the game on a disk and run the game from that disk. Don't know if it a possible solution, but it's a thought.
If something gets your goat, it just proves you have a goat to get.

Just to throw this in the mix - I downloaded and played The 13th Skull on my 64-bit Windows 7 with no issues at all.
I don't burn my BFG to a disk, but I do store them on an exterior hard drive.
It's spring. My life is weeds.
