Hi all,

I have progressed to the Tree of Life floor puzzle, have solved it, taken the seeds, exhausted all dialog, but the game will not let me get into the gondola and leave for Cairo. Something is amiss with the game I am thinking...there is nothing more I can do at this location...can anyone help me out?

I can't help you but would like to let you know that I too am having problems with the game in Venice ... people keep saying they are giving me things but the items are not turning up in my inventory. Going to go back to an earlier saved game and follow the walkthru to that point.

If anyone has a saved game that gets me past making the smoke bomb would be appreciated. Thanks smile

Woodstock,

Double check that you got the correct seed. Each corner has seeds; only one is the correct one.

If you got that and talked to the Count completely - there should be a cutscene afterwards.

Gillan,
Best to scroll inventory. It might be hidden. Double check the walkthrough also to see if the items you think you should have should be in inventory. They might just be talking about it.

I just checked - I don't have a saved game on that part - smoke bomb.

MaG, I did get the correct seeds...top tile...seeds are in inventory...other 3 urns still have their seeds....got no cut scene. Unfortunately, I did not do multiple saves so I am stuck unless I start over & I don't think I will do that. Too bad as I was enjoying the game.

Try taking the seeds at the other corners and see if it will trigger the cutscene after talking to the Count.

The circle might be reversed in your view.

--------------
I turned on my old computer and found a saved game. It's on the way.
-----------

Ignore the first mail and the saved game - I sent you the wrong one. The second mail has the circular tile puzzle done.

If you're having problems with inventory items appearing in this game, try this fix which worked for another member:

Click on your notebook and open the documents tab. The item may be in there. Click on the item and that should put it in the window on the screen as if it had been in the inventory.

That may not work for all items but it does work for the parcel in the customs office.

An annoying glitch. frown

MaG, thanks for the files. Did as instructed to no avail. No cut scene...am told that there is more to do. Your save game and mine have the very same inventory. Also, I saved game from your files and the program froze when I tried to load from that save. Don't know what else to do. There is a compromised file somewhere I would guess.

Woodstock,

Check what Rushes posted above. That might solve it.
I have a feeling you're missing a look at the items that should trigger the dialogue needed.
Study that seed that you got and talk to the Count completely. luck

Mag, I did check out what Rushes posted. Did not help. "My Documents" include: Passport, Item List, Folded Map, Marcel Notebook, Letter from Count, Chest Description & Book with Dedication. I went through all of these items again to no avail. I did notice that my Journal has no entries for Venice and my Dialogs cease just after getting to Venice. I should also add that my wife started this game some time after I did and is experiencing a similar problem when trying to open the chest. She can move the first dial to 8, but when moving the 2nd Sylvie responds and the 2nd dial freezes. I think this downloaded game is full of bugs for some reason.

Earlier today, I sent you my next saved game. I don't know what part of Cairo that is located. Hopefully that will work for you. Keep us posted.

MaG, I did get your last save game in Cairo. I opened the save game and the first thing that I noticed was that the cursor remained in the 'hand' or active mode. I went everywhere, but could do nothing. Printed out your WT and still could not do anything.

I then decided to do an uninstall/re-install. Did so (cleaned up my registry before the re-install) but no way Jose!! So, it looks like I am outta luck with this game. Since I did a un-install then re-install I am assuming that this game has some inherent flaws/bugs that need to be addressed by BFG.

My thanks to all that tried to help me work through these problems. It is a bit of a disappointment but I have run 17 BFG's without a hitch so overall I am doing well. I had to un-install Hounds of the Baskerville's because it was completely unstable at the get go. Two out of 17 isn't too bad.

Oh my! I'm sorry. Wish it worked for you though.

The Adventure Shop at top of the page has it for download also but you can't beat the price of BF.

One last try: Play with the graphic options and see if lowering or changing some of the options would allow the graphics that are missing or sluggish to come through.
The graphics option has selections for shadows & special effects, background animations, subtitles save the screen ration, gamma correction and level of detail selections.

Thanks MaG,
I replayed from the start of Venice following the walkthru and the items went into inventory.
One thing, I tend to skip through dialogue as I read quicker than the spoken word. With this game I see that often the inventory items appear halfway through the dialogue and that is why I might have been missed getting them.

Hi guys, I'm a new user here, so bear with me as I struggle to navigate! smirk
I am totally stuck on COM: Tree of Life. It's definately a glitch and I think the only way I can progress is if I get someones savepoint.

In the game I am currently in Cairo, I have cleaned the blood/ink stained cloth and need to copy the map from the cloth onto my photocopied map.
Unfortunately I have no pencil. I have spoken to Ali, exhausted all conversations- including the pencil conversation. But I have recieved NO pencil in my inventory frown
I have also tried to speak to all other characters and have clicked everywhere, but there is nothing else to do or say.
I really need a save point either just before or just after pencilling the map.

Thanks, any help is appreciated smile

Hi Monkeyface881, welcome to GameBoomers.

As a matter of interest, did you fast-click through the dialogue which would have given you the pencil in inventory? Gillann mentioned it in the post above, and I'm wondering if there is a game glitch whereby fast-clicking may mess up inventory items somehow.

I don't have any saves for this game, though, so let's wait for help.

Thanks for the welcome Rushes smile
hmm... I'm not sure if I fast clicked or not. It is possible as I was fast-clicking other dialogues during the game up to that point.
Thanks for the help. Hope someone with a save or solution comes soon! laugh

welcome

When you finished the scarf, did Sylvie says she can use a pencil and a bottled genie?

My saves are start of chapter, after the pipes and the end of the chapter. Sorry.
