I almost did give up. I think the air was getting a little blue in here.

I finished the game now. That was great. One thing - If I play the game again, will the cannons still have the same pictures, symbols, and roman numerals?

I made some notes, but they may not be any good if the cannons change, plus other things I've written down.

The Roman numerals for the cannons are random. So, if you were to start the game over with a new profile, everything won't necessarily be the same way. wave

I'm enjoying this game except that I am being told what to do every step of the way. It's like following a walkthrough. Is there any way of turning off these "objectives"?
I prefer to roam around and try things rather than follow a set route through the game.

I don't know of any way to turn off "the objectives." Some latitude is given in the game, though, in that you can do some things in the game independently without having to immediately fulfill the objective. wave

Just finished the game. Took your advice Marian and just wandered around, consulting the objectives when I got stuck.
I thought this was an excellent game and what a fabuous ending!
And weren't some of those puzzles fiendish?!

Thanks lazydaisy but I can't seem to do it correctly. I have looked at all of the help forums and it seems to me that I am doing everything correctly but apparently, I'm not. I have tried multiple times and I understand what I am supposed to do but no matter what I do or how I enter the Roman numerials, it doesn't work. This is way too tedious and frustrating so I think that I am just going to have to give up. It has really dampened my enthusiasm for this game otherwisee fun game:(

Sorry, it didn't work out for you Gatsbygirl. You got to play most of the game anyway. Sometimes I wish I could just connect through this screen and "see" what you are seeing to help you out. wink

Is there any way to bypass the puzzle of the picture of the ship? Both my husband and I have tried and we haven't been able to master it. Any suggestions or a skip?

If I recall correctly, you can skip this puzzle. You just have to click on where it says "hint" and it will allow you to skip the puzzle. I don't remember whether this option is immediately available or not; you might or might not have to wait a minute or two after starting the puzzle before being able to bypass it. wave

OK, thanks for the information. I'll give it a try. Can't be any worse than not succeeding after two days of trying.

You might want to take a look at this video of the solution as well. Some of the comments by other posters offer a few suggestions that worked for them. smile

This game became my "Waterlo". When I got to the swamp and the skulls, I never managed to figure it out and lost patience. I think this really is my loss because to that point it is a good game. If only they had offered a skip here I probably would have finished it. This is the first time in years I threw in the towel.

Do you go accross or down and how many number does each cannon take to open it? Please help i have been on this now for three days.

The first few posts in this thread provide a lot of help with figuring this out. See if any of this helps. wave

Cherie,

Glad to hear that someone else is having the same trouble that I did with the canyons/ swamp/skulls. I am not glad that you had trouble but glad to know that I'm not as dumb as I was feeling over this spot in the game.

I followed the instructions and thought that I had entered the Roman Numerals correctly, but apparently I didn't. After trying for a long time, I gave up, too. It has otherwise been a great game but I hate it that you can't skip this puzzle. Totally frustrating and it has ruined what has been an otherwise enjoyable experience. I haven't deleted it yet thinking that I might eventually go back and try it again but I doubt that I will. I have lost interest in it.
