Hi, I got The Egyptian Prophecy and installed it on Windows 7 64 bit without a hitch.
However, when I click to play it flashes the screen black as if it's trying to load then goes back to desktop saying "tep.exe has stopped working".
I tried putting the user account settings to lowest (as the studio site mentioned that) but nothing happened.
I even downloaded the patch Rushes had on another thread but it started installing then disappeared..so I don't think it did anything as the game still crashed. I realize this is an older game but other XP games have worked.

Can anyone help please?

Ps: Rushes's patch was for Nvidia but I have Intel HD graphics.

The Egyptian Prophecy is listed in our Windows 7 and Games thread (stickied at the top of Glitches) as one of those few games that would not play on Windows 7.

That's strange because Big Fish lists ***Egyptian Prophecy*** as being for XP/Vista/7 and Kheops is selling it from ***their website***, listing it as being for XP/Vista/7.

Was the version tested in the Windows 7 thread the original boxed version or one of the download versions (which may have been updated)? Could this be a 64-bit problem?

It very well could have been and I don't think the individual who tried the game mentioned whether it was the old version or not. I wish I could remember who the GB member was who tried everything possible to get it running and couldn't. I think the old thread has dropped off the forum.

Well, I also e-mailed the actual studio about my problem so I'll see what they say frown

Google found the original thread ***here***.
Maybe we should include a link to it in the second thread.

It looks like Sarahandus tested Egyptian Prophecy on the 6th page (set at 15 posts per page). She also says Egypt II the Heliopolis Prophecy wouldn't run.

However on the 25th page, cas1701 says both Egypt 2 and Egypt 3 run without any need for changes.

So it would be interesting to know if different versions of the games were tested. The way they list the names suggests they might be.

I agree... I didn't think to Google the page. MaG has been unlocking the 2nd thread for me to make edits and additions and then relocking it. I need to add Sanitarium and perhaps a link to the second one would be a good idea as it provides more details.

I will PM Sarahandus to ask which version she tried.

I've added a sentence to the 2nd thread with a link to the original thread. You can move what I wrote or rephrase it when Mag unlocks the thread for you. I have to leave soon so I can't be around this afternoon to monitor it.

Oh, thank you! I have to leave in just a few minutes too, so it will probably be tomorrow before I get to the Sanitarium edit. I'll let everyone know what more I find out about the Egyptian Prophecy issue.

It's always nice to see someone can still whistle - had an emergency root canal, still can't do it (maybe when the Novocaine wears off)scared

Thanks, sarahandus!

And just so I can be as accurate as possible in the Windows 7 and Games thread, is either Egypt 2 or 3 that cas1701 says played on his Windows 7 the same game as The Egyptian Prophecy?

I'll have to re-read the first part of this thread as my brain isn't quite functioning yet, but just in case this hasn't been mentioned. I got this PM on another gaming forum from a former GB member.

Quote:
I had the same problem trying to play TEP once, the very same trouble as the others are experiencing. It turns out that TEP has a bug in the game, as it relates to those with Nvidia video cards. There's a patch on the TAC support pages that can be downloaded to fix that little problem. Here's a link: http://www.adventurecompanygames.com/support/pc/patches/patches.php

TEP can be found in the drop down menu .

Egypt 2 is The Heliopolis Prophecy
Egypt 3 is the Egyptian Prophecy

Hi, I just wanted to give an update about the functionality of The Egyptian Prophecy.

I got a new Windows 7 64 Desktop that has 8GB, and i5 2500 processor and a AMD 6670 graphics card.
I'm not sure if all or one of these options worked but I installed the game, clicked the desktop icon to "run as admin" and it has been working so far!

I was given this game via a gameboomers member in the trade/sell section. It is a 3 disc set with the original box that says "The Egyptian Prophecy" showing a pyramid. The date is 2004.

So it IS possible to run this game on Windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks for letting us know. Whether or not a computer will run it may be more a matter of video card and drivers than OS.
