Hi, I bought my Toshiba Win 7 64bit L655-S5156 laptop in early Feb. After about a week when I was playing my Sims 3 game I got an error "Display driver has stopped responding but has recovered" and I get it randomly during gameplay ever since.
I assume this has to do with my display driver.
The one I had during this occurance was 8.15.11.2202
However, upon searching Toshiba's driver site they have 8.15.11.2189
So..which one is it?
I don't think I can do Intel's site as it's customized toshiba. Sorry, just very confused.

Dreamer, have you contacted the company you bought the laptop from? That's the first thing I'd do.

That said, just because it's a customized Toshiba doesn't mean the drivers were developed by Toshiba.

I'm not familiar enough with laptops to tell you how it's done, but you should be able to go into the laptop and find out whose display driver has been loaded on your laptop. You could then go to that company's site and look for drivers.

But I would first contact the company who sold you the laptop.

If something gets your goat, it just proves you have a goat to get.

Having just purchased a Toshiba (and having similar issues) I can only state what I've seen posted in their support forums.

Toshiba modifies their video drivers to the specific model. Installing drivers other than those on their web site can lead to issues... and I can attest to that. Updating my nVidia drivers caused a nasty shut down problem, which could only be resolved by restoring the original OEM state.

I'd uninstall your current driver and replace it with their own.

UPDATE:

I finally did a recovery back to original out of the box factory settings and when playing my game so far there is no error.

Sometimes Microsoft's windows update will recomend driver updates. These driver updates that come through windows update can sometimes cause problems. It is best to only use driver updates from the computer manufacturer when using a notebook computer. You can block updates on windows updates by right clicking on the update that you do not want and choosing hide update.
