nVidia has been supplying laptop drivers for awhile now, are those for Dell not supported?

If not, you're correct - she'll have to locate them at the site you named above.

I'm back. the driver from the nvidia site fixed the problem - at least I know my M1530's nvidia card isn't damaged.

(from an earlier post my me in this thread)

I thought since Inland is a guy instead of a lady, he'd have the extra muscle in his arms to be able to effortlessly carry around a heavy 17-incher laptop whereas a woman would likely get tired out carrying a heavy laptop.

Well, I found out today after getting home from Panara Bread that, combined with my Nikon D3000 DSLR camera and the Dell XPS laptop, plus the laptop's power cord, my backpack weighs 14 pounds and I'm able to lift it with one hand, and now I know Mom's right when she told me "you're not frail, you're strong." And I have to tote that 14-lb. backpack on the bus, yet!

I forgot to tell you guys, when I said "believe I found it" that what I found was what I was looking for! Now that I have that google app on my Dell XPS laptop, it sure is neat! It's handy for when I'm at the coffee shop at Barnes & Noble or Panera Bread and I'm gaming, it helps me keep track of the time so I don't miss my star-cruiser ride home.

btw, these cooling balls came last week -

cooling balls for Dell XPS laptop

but I'm not exactly sure how to put them on, or if they stay on the computer permanently, or what these tiny round circles that came with the balls are for, nor how to use these little round circles?

EDIT - found these instructions here.

EDIT 2 - Got these cooling balls attached to the laptop.

I believe this is the correct way to attach the balls and these round circles (which btw, turned out to be non-skid pads) - correct me if I'm wrong, ok?

I had to reinstall XP on my M1530 the other day, all the games I had on it, and now I was searching for the proper sound card driver, and I came across this site

Drivers for Dell M1530

where I d/l the driver pack solution and a utorrent (on my mac) transferred them to the M1530 (after I installed the M1530's chipset driver, which happens to be a internet connecting driver (or at least part of this chipset driver is) but as you see, my nephew (Tim) told me on Good Friday that our router is set up to keep people off of our network, (however, I'm not too worried about the router at this point, as Mom told me Nate will give me the router setup password after I learn more about computers) but anyway, I d/l a utorrent as the driver pack is a bit torrent file and as of now my laptop is d/l the drivers using the utorrent, is listed as "active" and is now at 42 % done. Did I find the correct driver pack for XP (32-bit) for my M1530?

Am I doing this whole thing the correct way?

You didn't mention which file you downloaded from the link.

Oops - I forgot. I d/l the driver installation pack at the very top of the list.

See? I said it in the previous post - I d/l the driver pack solution and a utorrent (on my mac) transferred them to the M1530

I see a audio codec in the list, but no mention of a driver. What was wrong with your previous sound driver?

Edit -

I would assume the actual driver would be included in the chipset drivers.

I never backed it up on a CD/DVD and forgot where I d/l it from.

Anyway, my utorrent is seeding currently and it takes as long as 15 hours. I don't want to leave the laptop on all day (and maybe half the night if not all night) - what should I do at this point?

Try this URL -

Dell 1530 XP Drivers

The audio driver is only 8MB.

How did you find this site? Why couldn't I find it (curious)?

EDIT - after d/l that torrent file (leeching it) do I have to completely seed all these people now that I have the d/l (from the torrent) on my M1530 lest my choice to abandon this seeding lead to negative consequences for me?

You sure can, there's no need to seed once the file is completely received.

Inland, all I'm asking in this quote is if I don't seed these people, will they come after me with the police/sue me/get my IP address and tell our ISP to cancel/shut down our internet service/or block my internet access from the M1530?

Also, is it possible to down grade the Acer from 7 to XP, (just curious)?

No. It's just nice to give back as much as you took. If you don't want to be nice, or if your upload speed is so pathetic it wouldn't matter anyway, don't bother seeding.

Didn't you try that before? If you can't get the Nvidia graphics working with a dual boot of XP, you're not going to fare any better with a single boot of XP.

Jenny, I was going to seed back the amt I took, but my upload speed would take about 15 hours, while my d/l speed is way quicker. Would you call 15+ hours upload speed pathetic?

No, I recall quite vividly how I tried in vain to find XP drivers for Nvidia Optimus, and Inland told me there wasn't any XP drivers for NVidia Optimus - so I'm glad I had the opportunity to buy a second (the M1530) laptop exclusively for XP, where I bought that 320 GB HDD you found for me, Jenny and upgraded the M1530's HDD Easter weekend, thus gaining some tech experience in the process.

And btw, XP works beautifully (along with the NVidia card) in the M1530, I'm able to play Nikopol, Darkstar, PR Immortals of Terra (well actually I didn't really start playing, just tested this game in it, game runs ok), and Jazz & Faust runs just fine on this laptop (although it crashed only 2X).

Everyone's download speed is way quicker than their upload speed. It's the number of uploaders that makes the download fast. But if the torrent already has plenty of seeds and the download speed is high, don't worry about it.

So that's your answer. If you "downgrade" the Acer to XP, you'll lose the Nvidia functionality. You'll have an XP computer with what amounts to Intel graphics.

Are those the only games that didn't work on your Acer?

I sort of figured this - kind of like my netbook, which had Graphics Media Accelerator graphics - right?

Never hurts to have a second opinion (mine and yours)?

As far as I know, yes. There may be more that won't work on my Acer, but I'm not going to bother trying, as I have the M1530 which will likely play these other games.

Yes, only bigger and heavier and more expensive.

Most games should work on the Acer. Check Draclvr's list for what works.
