I just purchased Lost Horizons for download from the Adventure Shop. The instructions for downloading say I need a Download Manager. I went back to Adventure Shop website and it said the DM was available on my account page. So I created an account, got a passsword, etc. and opened my account- Still no info on how to get the Down load Manager.

Where do I get this thing? It says it's on my account receipt, but I can't find it. THe only thing I was able to down load was the setup.exe and that keeps asking me to insert a disk, because it cannot find any files.

I'm getting very frustrated because I just spent $20.00 and have nothing to show for it. Any help would be appreciated.

SuMac...

I downloaded this FDM "Free Download Manager" from the Adventure Shop..

It has helped me download all the Disk files easy..

Here is the Link

I just used it now for the download demo of Gray Matter..which took me 35 minutes only..

Thanks for the link Darleen. Right now I'm downloading the game without the DM and it's taking 6 hours! As you can probably guess, I've never downloaded a whole game before and if this doesn't work, I may never do it again.

One mpr question - can you use the Download Manager for other games from other websites?

Hi SuMac- you may want to check to see if the download manager came with any documentation. The manager I have automatically set itself up as a default, so everything and anything I download from the internet is done by the manager. Some sites like Big Fish Games have their own manager, so I just cancel out of it and run the BFG manager.

Sumac..The download manager I directed you towards the link works with any download from any site....

As Ewil02, stated it sets itself as a default manager....When I go to BFG's to download I just x out of the FDM, and use BF's manager...

After waiting over 6 hours for the download to finish, I clicked to install it. It seemed to be going OK, got half-way through and stopped. Asked me to insert Disk 2???

On the download page of my account for Los Horizons, there are 4 hyperlinks for downloads, One is the set-up.exe and the other 3 are the big files. The only difference between the three is that the files end in bin1, bin2 and bin3. Do I have to download all three? I assumed bin2 and bin3 were duplicates of bin1.

I am currently downloading bin2 and it's going to take another 6 hours. I can't believe what a hastle this is. I'll have to leave my computer on all night to get them all.

Or is there something else I can do when the install asks for Disk 2? I'm totally confused and frustrated by this whole process.

You "HAVE" to download all the Bin files...They are all different...
You should download the exe files..Plus all the Bin files...Such as Disk 1,2,3,4

Sorry...You are having so much trouble...

Also it was a long download for me too...Even with Broadband.. duh

Thanks Darleen. That's what I'm doing. I have DSL internet service and I never dreamed it would take so long. Next time I'll use the DM.

The only reason I thought those files were duplicates is that they're the exact same size. I thought maybe the last two files would be smaller (and quicker).

Ugh. This is why I still only purchase retail, boxed games.
It's too bad the brick and mortar stores are going the way of the dinosaur, and soon, for PC games. Pretty soon it'll be console and no other platform.
So,in the meantime, thank goodness for Interact and Target!

Yes, Darleen, I got the game installed and played for a short while - looks great! Thanks for holding my hand through the download process. It took 13 hours in all. I started about 9am Sunday morning and it finally finished about 10pm. Whew!!
Next time - download manager for sure!

One more question - the downloaded version doesn't have a manual, or at least I can't find it. All the "Readme" says, "Everything you need to know is in the manual. Happy gaming!" I tried the Lost Horizon website, but couldn't find anything there either. Any ideas?

I don't think I really need the manual, but the WT says it has the diary and the back story of the main character Fenton Paddock. Anyway, what I saw of the game looks great and a lot of fun.

Hey guys. Usually there is a manual with a digital download. I've forgotten how to do it in XP however with Vista you can right click on the shortcut on your desktop and choose, "open file location". More times than not there is an electronic manual included somewhere in these files. You just need to look at all of them.

I believe in XP you can use Windows Explorer by right clicking on your start button then choose explore. On the left side of the window that opens, look for Program files, click that, then find the game you want the manual for, and click that. This will find all the files the game has rather than open the exe. which will start the game.

If it's not in there it probably isn't included in the download.

Yes olgeezer is right, there is a Manual that comes with the game and it is situated in the LH game directory, in my setup it is located here:
C:\Program Files\Deep Silver\Lost Horizon\Lost Horizon Manual.pdf

And it is a very nice manual, just like the game.
I am in Chapter 3, or is that 4, forgot already, but anyway I am absolutely Loving the game.... PLEASE make a LH2.

Regarding the Manual:

I have just read that depending where you downloaded the game, the manual was not yet available, one such site: Virgin Media stated that "User manual available soon"...
So there might be other places that are in the same situation, so you could check back with your site to see if is now available and if not, send them an Email
I downloaded my game at Adventure Shop and mine came with the manual.

Hi katbear50 -- I did not patch the game (downloaded it several months ago) and did not have any problems.

I've gone back into the game and looked at the credits and the main menu screen, and I don't see anywhere that a version might be identified. Someone else may know a way, though.

I bought Lost Horizon from Amazon back when they had the special pricing -- Dec maybe? That download played fine for me.

The Manual is available from Amazon.
Go to the product page for Lost Horizon at Amazon.
Scroll down to Product Details.
The first item is the Game Manual: a PDF download.

I downloaded that one and it is worth the trouble -- a great manual just for the storyline and extras.

(I didn't need it to play the game. I didn't realize it was there until after I finished the game.)
