Hello there

Is there no adventure games coming out in July or August. The list jumps from June to September.

Thanks

MaG is continually updating the list. If there are no additions yet it is because nothing has been officially announce for those times.

Becky checks the upcoming games and their releases; and Chief locates the trailers and demos of the new games. I posts them only. smile

Betty -- developers and publishers seem to be holding back in terms of giving exact release dates until they are really certain that they can "hit the target" -- probably because people complain if the release dates slip.

I used to take dates posted on online stores into account, but these have been so unreliable, that I now wait until the publisher or developer actually sites a date for a specific month. So if they have been saying "fourth quarter 2011" I wait until they actually say (for instance) November 2011.

The result is that sometimes games release and it takes me (and, I assume, most other people) by surprise. This is particularly true of games that release via download.

Summer is usually slower than the fall, but I agree -- this is really slow!

Upcoming games on the "waiting" list that should release sooner rather than later are:

Blackwell Deception (download)
Enter the Story: The Count of Monte Cristo (download)
J.U.L.I.A.
Relics (download)
Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse (on disk in the UK) -- this one just posted an August date, so we'll get that up on the Upcoming page)

This seems to be the perfect thread to announce it... The Count of Monte Cristo will be released this week. You heard it here first! It was due to be finished in April, but I re-read the old game reviews, and some of them had a few bugs. So this one has been tested, tested, and tested again. Twenty different test versions just in the last month! Each one adding more features and tweaks.

The feedback so far is very positive. New features include an easier control system, more mobile characters, the complete text of the original novel, and lots more. It's more clearly focused on a central hero than the previous three games, and as usual includes classic art and music. Oh, and one of the greatest stories ever told. smile

I'm finishing the final test today, then will make the demo and refresh the web site, then the game should be available mid week.

The complete text? That is going to be one long game!

Looking forward to your finished game, EnterTheStory grin

Unfortunately I didn't have the time to keep downloading and trying the new versions laugh

Traveler -- from what I can tell from the Enter the Story blog, the text of the book is included as a separate feature in the game. I don't think the game itself uses all of the book's text. Does this make sense? grin

Definitely do. <g> The dialogue balloons would be huge if it didn't. Err...make that 'if it did'.

I read The Count of Monte Cristo again not long ago so it will be fun to see how everything plays out in the game.

On the dark side, Guild Wars 2 release date is "when it's ready" or "when it's done".
