Need help I am playing the Jr. game. I am near the end of the game. I'm at the tree but nothing happens when I click on the large root to the left in order to be behind it to take the 3rd coded message that has a mouse, dragon & unicorn on it which allows me to take pictures of the monster.

Be sure that you have checked Renate's map and that Nancy will say those places are where the monsters were sighted.

I hope I am doing this right. I am playing nancy drew, the captive curse. and I am playing the junior game. I am a little mixed-up or confused. I am where nancy is in Renate's bag, and she is trying to figure out the color coded box. I am using the walkthrough, and using the two samples for the box. but the samples don't show the whole complete box finished.do you have anything that might help me to finish this part. thank you

Both examples are finished - as shown by the 4 green lights at bottom of the last column with entries.

The aim of the puzzle is to place 4 colors from the very top bar on the column below.
You are given 10 chances (columns) to place the correct color at the correct slot.
The box below the column has 4 lights. It will show the result of the balls placed on the column above it.
If green - one ball is the correct color and is placed in the correct slot.
If orange - the ball is the correct color but placed in the wrong slot.
If black - wrong color.

I looked for the correct color first by using one color at a time and worked on placing the correct colors found in the correct slot as I go along the columns.



See column 1 at left. I placed 4 blue balls. The result below showed that ONE of those 4 blue balls is the correct color at the correct place.
Column 2 - I then started moving one blue ball and checking another color (pink) to see if it is the correct. As shown by the lights below - pink is wrong color and the solitary blue I positioned is in the wrong slot.
Column 3 - I check green now and moved the blue ball to another slot. The lights below showed that I correctly placed the blue ball and one of the green balls is in the correct slot and is one of the correct colors.
Column 4 - I now kept the blue ball where it is correctly placed; worked on finding which green ball is correct and also check the light blue ball. The light blue ball is not one of the correct color and I placed the green ball correctly. That's 2 down.
Column 5 - checked the red ball with blue and green correctly placed) The red ball is not correct color.
Column 6 - Check purple and orange this time. Both colors are correct but wrongly placed.
Column 7 - placed all correct colors at correct slots.

Hi kathy -- Yes, once you have correctly guessed the column of colours which are displayed over at far right of the puzzle, then you've won, and you can get the map.

I just can't get this puzzle. I have been trying for over a week. I hate to blame it on my eyes because I am legally blind but I am starting to think that may be the problem. I have every Nancy Drew game and none of them have given me this much problem. Can someone please send me a saved game????? I would really appreciate it. I can't go any further in the game until I complete this puzzle....

I love Nancy Drew, However, this game The Captive Curse is urking me with the puzzle box , I have been trying to solve this box for 2 days now and still can not get it!! They only give you 30 seconds or less to solve it then she wakes. Can anyone tell me what and where and how i can get a saved game for this portion? TIA

I just wanted to say , So do I have a bogus copy of game? becuase renate wakes up by the time I get to the third row. does she wake up if i press wrong color or worng spot for a right color? I don't get the chances or timing part at all. I can not get to the third row at all to keep trying!

The saved game takes you past that puzzle completely so you don't need to replay it. Did you manage to install it? Just save the file directly into your save folder where all your other saves are, then exit out of the folder, start up the game, and load the new save as you normally would from the in-game load screen.

Hi This is kathy again. I am stuck again, i am where nancy got karl out of his office, she found the key. but i am having a real bad time trying to get to the left side of the desk to open it.can you give me any idea which way to go. to get to the left side of desk. thank you

Hi kathy,

That's the left side of the desk as you look at it when you're standing in the main part of the room. When you're behind the desk, the drawer is on the right. Check that side.

Step to the left and face that cabinet with the desk on your forward right.
Move the cursor to just about the far corner and little bit to the left of the desk. You should see a curved arrow pointing to the right (which means you can go behind the desk).
