So, don't keep us in suspense! What was the problem?

God bless wonderful son-in-laws!

There were a lot of "corruptions" - which my Son in Law blamed fairly and squarely on the last great pile of "Microsoft Updates" rolleyes

Anyway, all resolved now thank goodness, but I tremble at the thought of the next update notification !!!! rolleyes

Great! I've not missed any of the Microsoft Updates on my XP computer and have no such problems.

Apparently I was not the only one to be "attacked" by those updates.
My Son in Law looks after several computers for others and came up against this corruption thing (following the updates) on more than one of them, too frown

Still, I'm just very happy to have my machines up and running well again happydance

I'm glad to hear you figured out what the problem was and that your son in law was able to fix it.
