Hi. I've stuck in the study and can't open the safe because of effects of snake bite. I found the anti-venom in the puzzle in the warehouse. But I had to drink it to use the credit card to open the windows in the house near the tower and jungle. Now when I try to open the safe with the slip of paper that has the combination on it, I can't do so. The game again tells me it's because of the effects of snakebite. But I can't see how to get any more anti-venom potion. Anyone know a way to move forward in the game? Or can send a saved game just after opening the safe??? Thanks.

Hi ArtDent,

There's another anti-venom bottle on a shelf in the building on the pier. luck

Yep, found that one too (at the pier) -- and drank it right away. Maybe that was a mistake. Maybe I was supposed to keep it until the need arises at the safe in the study??? You can tell my gaming goes all the way back to Doom, i.e., find a medpac and USE it NOW.

Thanks!

There are only two anti-venoms up to this point in the game -- I'd suggest re-checking your inventory, as well as the Raven chest and the building on the pier, just in case you overlooked one but thought that you drank it. I hope it isn't a glitch, I no longer have my saves for this game. Perhaps someone else still has theirs. Keep us posted.

Must be a glitch. I've found both bottles of anti-venom. But they both have to be used before I reach the safe in the study. Nothing I can do so far will result in anything but the fact that when I apply the number slip to safe I get the vibration effect, but also a message that "I'm still being effected by the venom." Trying to work the combination to turn on the track path machine just results in a message "I think I need to try something else first." So I cannot move forward in the game. I wonder if it has something to do with my letting the game auto-solve the puzzle in the sewers? But the anti-venom worked for opening the window in the house near the tower, so why does the problem return when I try to open the safe???
I guess my only chance is for someone to find a saved game for me. Too bad, because otherwise this is one great game. I hate(!) not to finish it!

ArtDent,

You have to open the safe and talk to Vargo before you can do anything with the settings for the track path so that's why you're getting that message that you have to do something else first.

Unfortunately, I don't have any saved games or I'd send you one. But rather than give up on the game, why not go back and play from an earlier save? Did you save after Raven's Hunt? If you did, after you're bitten the second time go ahead and use the anti-venom and see if the game doesn't play out correctly from there on. It is a good game and I'd hate for you to miss the rest of it.

Gil.

ArtDent,

I've played through to just after opening the safe. Let me know if you still need a save.

Does anyone know if the marble puzzle (near the end of Last Half of Darkness: Serpent Moon) will solve itself if left along long enough? (As do some of the other puzzles in the game). I HATE puzzles that have nothing to do with the story line in games. So far, I've tried a couple of times to let this marble puzzle autosolve, but with no luck. Thanks!

Art,

I combined your 2 threads together. It helps to use one thread per game. You can find all your posts at top of the page under My Profile. Thanks.

Let's wait for the vet of this game who knows the "skips".

Art,

I don't believe this one autosolves but I'm not sure. Would it help you to know where each marble is supposed to be - or how to move each marble to get it where it goes? I can play through to the end and either tell you how to place them or send you a saved game but it will take a little while.

Actually, this puzzle has everything to do with the game. It's the reason for the tattoo and the way to find Sashia.

Thanks for your help folks. I will see if I can't just play it through. Was just hoping there was a way to skip it.

Anybody know of any good adventure games that are fairly devoid of puzzles -- Of the marble type and its kindred.

I realize that the very definition of an adventure game has always implied puzzles. But there are games like Lost Crown that are pretty much just multimedia narrative stories. I keep wondering if it wouldn't sell to have a least a few games that are basically pretty much an alternative to a paper book. I.e., lots of interactivity and good graphics, but no forgetting the thread of the story while one spends a half hour solving marbles, or levers, or chess boards, (and my greatest annoyance -- lost objects), etc.???

Actually the new Back to the Future series comes fairly close to what I'm asking for above. Loved(!) those.

Thanks!

Okay, finished the game. It's a great one overall. Bill Fisher does it again! It sure seems like it might be a set-up for Chapter 2 of the same story. We'll see.

I need a nudge.....I'm at the Study and pushing the Statue button, but nothing happens. I figure I omitted a step that is a requirement for the statue to reveal the safe. But I've backtracked and repeated all the motions several times and nothing!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Boomers!

dianM,

You say you're pushing 'the statue button'. Which button, exactly, are you pushing? Where is it?

Ok, on your wt (my page 8), walking through the house into the study, there is a bookshelf with a bust in the center. Close up on the bust I am clicking the second button from the right. It's in the decoration below the bust. It makes the sound like it's doing something but nothing happens??

oops page 9

I've got it. I pushed the button, then clicked the paper with numbers on the bust and the safe opened. Thanks for your response!!!!

If you're talking about the second square decoration on the edge of the shelf below the bust of the girl, that's it.

So, you've got the paper with numbers on it and you clicked on the poem on the wall in the empty cell to read it?

Well, I'm slow. Lol! Good going, di!

Gil.
