Apparently Steam was hacked a few days ago news reported here.

I have a Steam account, and have found recent fraudulent activity on the credit card I used for Steam. I now want to change my Steam password. (I also want to throw something at somebody, but am attempting to control myself.)

Wouldn't you think that it would be easy to change a password on Steam? Even for blondes?

The instructions say to log into Steam, which I've done. Then I'm supposed to "click the Steam menu and select Settings."

Where IS the Steam Menu? I can't find "Settings" anywhere, and since I can't find "Settings" I can't change my password.

It's just too hard! I can't do anything this hard! Make it easier!

Hi Becky. There is an email address for Owen Good. Perhaps you could write and get his help.
owen@kotaku.com
Is anyone else having this problem?

Ok, decided to try to change my password. Click on Steam icon> In upper left corner click on Steam, then on drop down>settings>change password or secret question>enter your old password>then you will need to enter a code, check your email, they have emailed you one, then put in your code and new password and your done.

Becky,

This is XP - so I don't know if it is the same as Win7.

- Open C drive; then Program Files then Steam.
- Click the Steam program (app) It should open the steam frame.
- click on "steam" at top left of frame.
- drop down menu - select setting.
- then select "change password".
- then select the radio button for "I want to change password.
luck

Hi Terri and thanks MaG -- MaG, your instructions worked! The only difference in Win 7 seems to be that you find Steam under Program Files(x86).

Why doesn't the Steam Frame show up when I access Steam in the usual fashion? There is no icon in the upper left hand corner in the normal course. (Sorry, rhetorical question!)

Mission accomplished. At least I've changed my password.

EDIT: It turns out that going straight to the Steam website and logging into your Steam account does not bring up the Steam frame. You can view your account, download and install games, then play the games from their desktop icons and never even get a glance at the silly Steam frame. (Well, not in any way that a blonde would be concerned with or notice.)

Bringing up the Steam frame can be accomplished the way MaG stated above. Or you can do it the "hard" way -- you can click on the Steam icon on your desktop.

I bring this news to those who -- like me -- rarely (if ever) click on the desktop Steam icon merely for Steam's sake, but always go directly to the Steam website and so don't see the Steam Frame.

Those desktop icons can really come in handy! Who knew? penguin

lol I guess it depends on what you think of as expensive. frown It's possible of course, that the fradulent activity at the same time as the Steam hacking is just weird a coincidence.

A piano sounds like a great idea!
