Iam trying to do the puzzle in the floor of the old house, however, it is so dark that I cannot see the symbols on the wheels. How can I make it brighter?

Becky's walkthrough states:

Go into the Options menu and set the gamma correction to a higher setting than the default setting. About midway along the slider bar should be good. If you find the environments are too light after you've become acquainted with the gameworld, it's easy to adjust the gamma correction back to the default setting.

I tried that but it did not help. It is still too dark. I tried other settings as well but none oif them seem to help.

Are you able to adjust brightness directly from your monitor? If you have a PC, there should be buttons/wheels on the front or side of the monitor with various functions.

I have a lap top HP Pavillion dv7t. As far as I know there are no adjustments.

See if this works:
- Right click your desktop.
- Select Properties.
- Select Settings.
- Click on advanced at bottom right.
- See if there is any control panel for your video card there that you can play with to control the brightness of your monitor.

If not - best to post at Glitches and they might help you find an adjustment panel.

That did not work either so I have posted on Glitches as you suggested. Thanks for all the effort. I really appreciate it.

As I remember, I had the same problem but I needed a patch to fix it. It wasn`t a brightness problem. I couldn`t see other things also but they were not as crucial as the wheel. I got the patch and all was well. Sorry I can`t be more help...

I tried the patch but it will not work. Does anyone have a saved game just past the puzzle in the floor of the old house. It looks like this is the only way I will be able to complete the game.
