I can not find the door in the floor. I know it is supposed to be behind the crates by the trap door but I cannot find it. I must be doing something wrong.

I haven't played but according to the walkthrough it is here:

I am beyond that part. I am where I need to open the door in the floor using the key I got from the Goddess. I cannot find this door.

Ah. That is the part I mentioned that might cause a dead end.

If all are done correctly and in the sequence that the developer wants; the door on the floor will appear after a certain time. It looks like there is a timer from the moment the key is given to the appearance of the door on the floor.

So try to move around the attic but do not go down to the lower floor. In one replay, I got the door on the floor almost immediately and in another I had to walk around and click on all active spots in the attic and then I just stood there - all of a sudden - the flames came up.

Thanks. I was looking on the first floor and then could not get back to the attic, so I have now loaded an earlier save and am working my way back to the attic where hopefully I will find the door.

Good luck! BTW - what was your choice on the Help System at Options?

I set the help system to: key, 3min, and help level complete. I got the key from the Goddess but I cannot open the door. I have tried clicking on everything but no luck with the door.

See if you wait 3 minutes after getting the key would work.

I also had problems getting through with this part. I replayed the game (since it's short) 5 times. I got through twice with the step by steps in the walkthrough.

Ah. So it must be the trigger - a gamer has to select Key and a time at Hints option.

I played the game again and this time the door was lite as soon as I got into the attic. The first time I played it I just waited by the door nd it finally lite. I do not know what triggers it.

Chief observed that if no hints is selected; the door will show immediately like you did.

Hi all.

I'm loving this game...until I got stuck at the same place as Smokey. I replayed the game 3x using MaG's walkthrough - nothing. The hatch isn't accessible. One time I played, the painting in the stockroom (after picking up the iron bar) didn't appear.

Anyone have a Save at the point the hatch is active or soon thereafter?

I don't have my game here and also I don't know where the saved games are kept.

Check what you selected in the Hints Help under Options at main menu.
Go back to a saved game, change the selection there to no hints and replay to that point. See if you immediately get the flames and door on the floor.

Keep us posted.

Although I tried that, I'll give it another whirl.

The saved games are at:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\AppData\LocalLow\Dreampainters\Anna\Saves

This is for Windows 7 Home Premium.

Hey there guys, made an account here just because of this thread.

Having the same problem here except for me the door never triggers regardless of whether tips are off or on.

Ive played through 12 times, not a single time has the trapdoor in the attic triggered and occasionally the painting in the storeroom does not either making things unfinishable.

If anyone has any advice or perhaps save games at the start of the cave I'd be really interested. Enjoyed the game a lot up till this point but now im just frustrated.

EDIT: did you play with the Hints OFF in the Options of the main menu?

Windows 7 Home Premium here too and Hints are "off" on the options menu.

Oh Gosh, I didn't even know there was a help system, but I'm doing ok so far: but I'm having dificulty understanding the meaning of doing things. I do know there are rituals but its dificult to understand why I'm dong them.

I also do not know the rituals to do. The game does tell you clues by the description of items. That is why left and right clicking an active item help me move forward slowly.
