"Once you've started the game "proper" then you can move around as freely as you like. "

Oh, good. That's a relief, thanks Rushes !! grin

I don't have a problem using the "R" button to change views and walk round, now you've told me about it, but examining stuff is very hit and miss. [Sometimes I get a magnifying glass option and sometimes I don't.]

Click to reveal..
After I managed to "examine" the window and a couple of other things, the tutorial was telling me to "look at the two clues".

What that means and how to do it - I don't know !! lol

[Do you think I should really be asking this kind of stuff on the Help Board ??]

The "two clues" are the two magnifying glass icons that appear on the window nearest the fireplace. Once you've clicked on both of those then the tutorial box should move you on to the next thing you need to do. Make sure that you're close enough to objects/areas for them to appear.

Yes, maybe more for Hints forum, as this isn't a glitch that I can tell. smile

Thanks, Jenny100 smile

It was a very pleasant shock when it worked as I was expecting a jerky, stuttering mess yes

I don't suppose I'm experiencing the full graphics effects possible - but what I'm getting is as good as any other Adventure of recent times .... so far at least .... and there is no "slowness" as Sherlock moves about thumbsup

Good luck with the rest of the game, Mad.

The Hood posted not too long ago that they tweaked several of the scenes because of graphics issues in the Beta. Sounds like they got it resolved.

Enjoy the game, I can't wait to get a hold of a copy.

Hi,
I have an Alienware M15 with 6GB and I7 . The game installs but when it gets to the part where Dr Watson starts speaking , my screen goes completely dark and nothing happens. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, disabling my firewall and nothing seems to help. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried reducing the graphical settings in the game options? Turn everything in there off or down and see if you have the same problem. If not, you may be able to turn some of the settings back up. If you crash on Watson again, you may have to check for different video drivers or make sure your video card meets the game's requirements.

You didn't mention what video card your computer has.
If you don't know, click the Start button in the lower left of your screen and type
dxdiag
in the Start Search, then click the <Enter> key on your keyboard.
If a UAC message pops up, make it allow dxdiag to open.
When dxdiag starts, choose the Display tab.
On the left side of the dxdiag window, it should say Name: and state what your video card is.

Those models were shipped with several different graphics processors, which does yours have? Also, how much discrete (on board) video memory does it have?

Have you updated your drivers (audio and Video) lately?

One thing you may want to try is lowering the in-game audio and graphics settings.

Thanks, all thumbsup

InlandAZ - One thing I forgot to say was that I didn't personally have to adjust ANY of stuff in Options - like shadows, grass and that kind of thing.
When I went looking to do that I found that the game had sorted it all already and none of those boxes were enabled.
Clever, eh ?? lol

And no, I haven't altered any drivers for EONS.
All my games - the much older ones and the latest releases that I've bought - all play fine with the drivers I have. So I don't want to upset anything eek

Thanks, Rushes smile

I haven't had time to get back to the game yet but hoping to today - so I'll look for the two clues.
I did only notice ONE before redface

Thanks InlandAZ,

The Frogwares people were also very helpful. It turned out that I needed to update the drivers for my video cards and everything works fine now.
