I hate to be the first one to have to shout for HELP but here I am - feeling less than 'smart' but now have scrambled eggs for a brain with that Tartan puzzle - Strategy guide does not give complete game solve and I am bogged down trying to figure it all out before getting caught. Anyone figure it out yet and have complete correct order for 'weaving' those dern colors? Please advise - oh, and good luck
Love, Betty Lou (I live in a zoo! LOL)
Is there a cheat for this puzzle? I hate it!

Betty Lou,

Let's hope someone can help you. If I get to that puzzle, I'll see what I can do. I am not rushing this game because of the free strategy guide - so I am backed up for a bit.

I'm not on that yet as I am trying to take the game a bit slower than usual as I always wish I hadn't finished it when I do :-(

Looked that that part of the guide and it does give the order of what, and which ones to press to get it? So i'm not sure how much more it would need to give without being on the puzzle myself? x

Betty Lou,

The aim is to copy the tartan at top right of screen.
- the arrows at 4 sides of the frame enters a line of color.
- the colors are at right side of the puzzle.
- enter the colors from bottom up. So start with the base.

for example, I entered:
- to enter, click a color square to select that color, then click on the gray square with arrows at sides of the puzzle to place that color on that area.
- first select the black color from right side and then place them on the left and right double arrows at bottom. So now I have 2 vertical blacks.
- then I selected the dark blue color square at right. Then place that color on the top and bottom arrows at left side of the puzzle.
- then select the white color and enter it on the wide arrow at bottom center of puzzle.
- next select the red color and place it on the wide arrow at right side.
You can go on from here. luck

I have the Strat Gd and it does not give a complete solution - have now jotted down in-game spoiler/solution you provided and 2 numbers are missing from it - both BLACK #17 and #21 - will study on it a bit and see if I can figure out when to use them too - hopefully will then have it solved. Would have liked to not have this puzzle in this game, love making the cookies! Thanks for the help

Have just followed the strategy guide and it does give the full solution, use the above help with the guide and you can do it very quickly.

Betty Lou,

If you are careful and watch the color layers on the tartan, you can do it yourself. Read what I posted above.
Since I am not following the guide, I don't know black 17... Sorry.

I must have been typing with your last reply, but 100% the strategy guide gives a full description of how to do it, what to press and the order to press it in?

Use the picture given to show the numbers of the buttons, and it is simply (must be done in this order)

Dark Blue button 22
Black 21
Black 17
Dark Blue 16
White 14
Red 11
Light Blue 20
Yellow 19
Green 12
Orange 2
Dark Blue 4
Dark Blue 6
Orange 8
Green 10
Dark Blue 3
Dark Blue 7
Light Blue 18
Green 1
Yellow 5
Green 9

It is very easy if you follow the guide Betty Lou, honestly. I'm not sure how much simpler I could put it than the guide does really? Sorry! x

I got it! Seems #17 & 21 are covered when using #13 & 21 - I found your link and solution very correct and helpful - sorry if I was a bit confused. Strat Guide did not help me as I could not seem to get it right and kept getting caught. OK now, and am back in my (Nancy's) room. Thanks so much - you kept me from going bald! LOL
Love, Betty Lou

Yay! I have had a few times like that, even ended up getting a game save once or twice just to bypass something! (p.s. I love doing the cookies too! wink )

I am using the strategy guide and so far I haven't gotten stuck which is a first for me! MaG, are you going to write a walkthrough?

Great! I have finally reached a snag. The cipher wheel arrangement! I don't get it even with the guide! Help!

I finished the game at 2 AM. Have not written the last third of the game and need to take some screens.

I'll be back and check my notes. ~ 2 minutes.
----------------

Study cipher wheel from the vault. If you haven't yet place the cipher wheel taken from the Cathedral control room glass case, do so now.

Archive symbols: The archive symbols have 6 sets of 22 symbols total. The cipher wheel has only 5 sets of 20 symbols total. The numbers of symbols do not match.
Note that some of the sets have ending symbols that are the beginning symbols of another set.

Arrange the symbols: Enter the symbols of the archive paper on the cipher wheel. The duplicated symbols that are the end of one set and beginning of another are entered only once. This is the clue to show the sequence of the sets.
The added clue to the sequence is the set of symbols drawn on Kate's case notes. It shows what is next after the exclamation mark symbol.
The starting symbol-set is shown by an arrow.

Click hold a symbol-wheel and drag it to the place you want it positioned.
When all symbols are correctly places, the top and bottom arrows are released. 4 symbols are locked as a set making 5 sets.

The notation in Kate's case notes shows x8 x3 x6 x4 x7.
Turn the wheels or click the top arrows the number of times noted in Kate's case notes. From left to right: x8 x3 x6 x4 x7.
See the decoded message.

I don't have screens yet.

MaG, I still don't get it! A saved game would be nice? Thanks for trying to explain it to me!I was letting myself get too confident that I could solve all of the puzzles without any help. I did until now! I sure wish that HER would put a skip button on the mini-games.

Marlene,

My saved game - cipher done is sent.

I don't know if my gameplay follows yours or the guide. I have not checked yet - still replaying and doing step by steps on puzzles.
