Hi,

Anyone who played the English version of BM3 had to skip the Miss Valley's seminar work puzzle, in which you have to underline three words in a notebook.
Due to a bug the game doesn't recognize one of the correct words, so the puzzle has to be skipped.

I contacted Viva-Media and they sent me a patch to try, and, after I told them it worked, they said they would post it officially on their website, but they never did.

So, I decided to spread it myself

I don't have virtual space to store it permanently, so I uploaded it to SendSpace, which means that it'll be deleted at some point. If that's the case, just PM me...
For the moment you can get it here.

To apply the patch, replace the file loca_english.xml found in the folder "loca".

Well I downloaded it but is just a text file.

EDIT... Never mind. I guess it's suppose to be that way.

Well, it's an XML file, which is indeed a type of a text file, but it'll still fix the problem, as the bug was in that specific file

Because it's just a text file, you can even fix the bug manually, without using the patch, by opening the original file in Notepad and searching for 'sector@l3', then replacing it with 'sector@I3' (without the quotes). The reason this bug exists is simply because someone had a typo and replaced 'I' with 'l'...

UNFORTUNATELY, since I have substituted the "new" patch for the "old" patch, the game will NOT start anymore.(I just get an "hourglass" icon, then a message that "Microsoft has found a problem", or something to that effect. Tried it over and over just to get the same problem. Now FORTUNATELY, I saved the "old" patch file, so I put it back where it belonged, and the game srarts fine now on my WIN XP computer.
Can you tell me the exact location of the "sector@i3" in that LONG XML file. I tried, but couldn't find it.

If you don't want to use the patch (not working) - play along until the part in the middle that you need that patch. We have a saved game for you there. I will look for it and send it to you asap.

Thanks a MILLION, Mag I WILL let you know the "result" after I've gotten through that "buggy part" of the game. First I'll try it BEFORE using your savegame (just to see what happens), and then I will apply your savegame to get past it if necessary. Of COURSE, I will save my game just BEFORE the "buggy part". LOL

Hi Mag, Sure enough I experienced the GLITCH where you said it would be AFTER I had saved a place before starting the puzzle. I applied your SAVEGAME (after changing some of the numbers to match the sequence). I loaded THAT new savegame, and I was then able to continue on. THANKS SO MUCH.
