Good morning everybody. Happy to be here this morning. We had storms and rain all day yesterday. It was over by the time I got home after 10:00 last night, but I still could not get on line. We received 1 1/2 inches of rain but it seemed to pour and pour all day long. Thank you Ana for being there for me again. I found out yesterday that I had a vacation day scheduled this week that I forgot about. YAAAAA! I'm off tomorrow. I can't believe I actually forgot about it. I work 1:00 to 10:00 again tonight. I hope you all have a super Tuesday!. joe

Weatherman is predicting 97 degrees here for today. Amazing. Yesterday was 90ish. Felt fine. Humidity is about 10% so the heat isn't yukky. I'm staying inside, under the ceiling fan and drinking lots of iced tea.

Terrific Tuesday ya'll It's hot and muggy in AL. The doggies and I got up and walked. Then home to cool everyone down and feed everyone. Then cooked some chicken breast to make jerky from and did some phone errands. Now time to sit and surf and sip coffee and then up to the bedroom to clean and vacuum. Out later to take Seagy to the vet for a repeat blood test. Checking on those pesky white blood cells. Bible Study tonight and then home to collapse and that is my day. Last night was a bit rough as Keoki was obviously hurting so we spent the night cuddling and massaging his hips, so collapsing will be welcome. Sending safe thoughts and prayers to Joe and Ana, stay safe. Haroula Connie, enjoy the cool. Gerry, that is hot...even for us. connie, 2 classes...have fun! Venus, happy whooshing. Gail, which movie are you all going to see? Woohoo Joe, a surprise day off Darlene, happy skooshing! Sorta, I'd love that 10% humidity. Enjoy

Only 59 this AM at 7:30 and that's cold for us. Warmer tomorrow, oh goody
Cats all asleep but today are curled up and nice and warm. Doggy kind of restless. I'm still watching her.
Not much doing today, as usual. I steamed some russian black kale and fixed it with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It was good. Usually I just have raw fruit and vegges. I feel like baking something but that too shall pass. Anyway on to sudoku, jigsaw puzzle and Doom 3 and perhaps Battlefield 2.

Thank you Ana for filling in for Joe today! Hope the storms weren't too bad. It was nice this morning but those clouds don't want to leave and they were trying to be naughty and spit on us. AGAIN!! It is warmer though, yesterday 34 and today 50! Now to be off and take Sassy for a nice walk. Had to do a short one this morning do to our WOTM audit meeting!! May each and every one of you have a wonderfully lovely day!!! Nan

Doggy ate a bit. She won't eat the mighty dog canned food only the omolene and then she picks out the red pieces and eats them. I'll take her to vets if she doesn't improve. She's a smaller dog, was a rescue and has had a good share of problems and she's family
There's red russian kale -it's kale but not as curley and has a red stem down the middle. This black russian stuff is a dark dark subdued green with black undertones like you can see black in it too. The leaves look like you ironed the kale leaves but they are quite narrow and flat. And it's bitter so it must be healthy. I ate most of it raw and it's stringy and crunchy that way but palatable steamed. And I probably will never buy it again.
Just turned the furnace on and house comfy now

L4L, there a dozen different kind of kale. If you used Lacinato the chips will taste like dirty socks. Curly red kale turns out amazing! Yankee, I had to laugh because I just looked up the black Russian Kale and it identical to what I use in my smoothies but we call it Lacinato. Is this it on this page? I alternate my smoothie kales and that is my least favorite but I still use it twice a week.

Wow, no local TV for us all afternoon. A brush fire broke out about 30 miles north. They have been aggressively fighting it for hours. Not a huge one, only low brush, but the embers are blowing in the 40 mph gusty winds and skipping and there are lots of expensive homes in the path. Also 3 or 4 schools and a golf course. At first, no evacuations, but then a wind shift and the kids are all being bussed to safe locations. Frantic parents arriving at the schools were desperately trying to find kids and some were allowed to yank their little guys off one of the buses. Scary, but so far no major damage or injuries. Mandatory evacuations of one area and people are resisting. Some are finding 'ways' to get back in. Thank goodness for one guy. They evacuated, got wife, kids, pets to a safe place and sneaked back in, just in time to see his landscaping on fire. Fire crews were busy nearby and when he started fighting the fire with his garden hose, they sent a guy over and advised him to spray his wooden eaves and woodpile. He is getting help. He must have had premonition that sent him back.
News people all over right in the path of the flames taking their lives in their hands. One of them reporting the fire LOST his home in 2003. He was actually covering the fire on the ground when he saw his own house burn to the ground. Was an emotional news report from him. They have him in the studio, not out on the line but it's so sad to hear what happened and I remember watching him do the play by play on screen live report as his house burned back then.
Looks scary, but if they can keep the fire to the empty land, it will end well. It only takes ONE house to catch fire and this will be another game. Crossing fingers and praying for all involved in 4S ranch and surrounding areas.

Hope that the fires die down and no one loses their life or property.
My neighbors hubby left her today. She was highly intoxicated and he was no part of it. Looks to be an interesting summer.

I hope the fire is controlled quickly! Back from the vet. White blood count is up a bit, but red blood count has not moved. Putting her back on the appetite stim, and that should fix the problem. Time to rest a bit before heading out to Bible Study.

Ana, yup that's it. And it's crunchy and kind of bitter and most nutritious. I've grown the red kale, that's tender and tasty -raw never cooked.

Bad news, fire is getting much worse. Started at 11 am and it's growing. Homes threatened, getting scary. A huge animal shelter being evacuated by volunteers. Packing and loading all sorts of critters to save them. Wow.
