Thanks Gamenut. Yes, I can see how one could become discouraged. Before I found Gameboomers, I would put the game away and not try again for months and sometimes years. GameBoomers has kept me going. I am enjoying my games much more now, without the "I'm going to give this up" attitude.

------------

Okay, now I am able to turn left at the bridge and click to go one step forward. At this point the computer takes over, puts the bubble in the face of the water guide and the bubble breaks and the water guide disappears. I have now done this one 5 times with the same result. With the computer in control, I am wondering how I get the water guide to accept the bubble before it breaks? crazy I'm bubbling over with curiosity! grin

Hi Sam,

After the game turns you to face the guide and puts the bubble in his face, are you left-clicking the bubble on him?

Oooops! Thank you Jema. blush

Jema, I went back and left clicked on the water guide. I got a few fire works then he exploded and went down in the water never to be seen again (until I reloaded of course). It happened 3 times. I waited to see if something would happen but NOPE. Any thoughts? confused

Hi Sam,

If you got the cutscene of fireworks (or sparks) and the guide disappears, that is what is supposed to happen. Go back to the Memory Chamber and Zanika will be waiting for you.

Clarification: If you didn't save after the fireworks, you'll have to replay the part about getting the gift to the guide. Then, after the fireworks, go back to the Memory Chamber.

That's it, Sam! When the little fireworks flash, the spirit then falls down and you have completed the task. Now, you are off to Dreamworld in that buiding that looks like a flower.

Have fun. The colored clouds puzzle in Dreamworld is challenging also. You may want to read some of the suggestions in the "Myst IV FAQs" for guidance:

Cheers,

Dadguy

No Waay! You have GOT to be kidding!! I read everything I could before entering the Dream Machine (Faqs, Wts, Cheats, you name it). This puzzle is a Bubble Buster!! Whoever thought this one up once held a high position in the Third Reich! rotfl
Fortunately, I saved right as Yeesha's cloud appeared (after re-watching the lightshow and music about 4 times. BTW, that part is very entertaining. Nice song.). When I reload, the deep voice says "Welcome Back", so I think I'm in a good spot for DADGUY. LOL
May I send another file Dadguy? Pretty Please? smile

Yes, the workshop door is a fun one, with no timers! I thought the Harvester/water puzzle was even more fun!

Good luck!

Okay, I got past the door on my own. happydance happydance Now, I've seen Yeesha and am back in another chair (oh great) in dreamland. I have a floating chessboard and other objects to contend with. I am finding that the pick up and drop mechanism seems to have a mind of its own. I have the WT, but the game seems to drop or pick up at its own discretion. Any advice on controlling the pickup and drop? Just wondering. smile

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nevermind, I figured it out. I just solved both floating items puzzles and watched the end of Myst IV. Wow, I am just restarting my journey as a neophyte gamer. I have had that game since it first came out. I started it years ago, but without the help of GameBoomers (and especially Dadguy) I NEVER would have completed it. Thanks to all. happydance happydance happydance Now to work on Dracula Origin and try and get Uru running correctly. smile

Can anyone send me a saved game after the chair puzzle? I know this game is old but I just purchased it.

No matter how hard I try I just can get it.

Thank You

Alan

Hi Alan, let's hope that someone will have a saved game for you.

Meanwhile, there are some saved games to be found here for Myst IV; maybe one of them will help you.

Lastly, here is some advice on this puzzle from a Myst IV expert:

Quote:
This can be tough, but believe me it is doable. I have solved it hundreds of times and now can do it each and every try, 1st time.

But, let's make sure you have not made an error that is preventing you success:

- The most common mistake is setting the Gears (down below) incorrectly. They must be set (L - R) at 4, 3, 7. The common mistake is not realizing that you are STARTING at position 1, not position zero. So, to set gear on the LEFT to 4, you pull it down 3 clicks (because you are STARTING at position 1, three clicks moves you to position 4). Then move the center geat down 2 clicks to position 3. Then move the RIGHT gear down 6 clicks to position 7.

Below is the quickest path for getting all four crystals vibrating.

Here is the step-by-step fastest order for tuning the Spider Chair Crystals

RIGHT SLIDER to 4.
LEFT SLIDER to 6. (Timed portion doesn’t begin until you set the center slider.)
CENTER SLIDER to 12 up at the very top for an instant (don’t let go of the mouse button yet) then drag it down to 1.
LEFT SLIDER to 3.
RIGHT SLIDER past 7 (don’t let go), then down to 5.
CENTER SLIDER to 5 (center slider knob on a horizontal line with the right slider knob).
LEFT SLIDER TO 12 (go past 10 without stopping).
CENTER SLIDER TO 12.
RIGHT SLIDER TO 12.

Notice, you don't have to pause on any of the settings, just touch them and move on.
