I am playing this game for about the fifth time. I've always loved it for its story, its detail, and its scope. I'm even one of the few oddballs who liked the ending. However, I have never understood what to do with or about the leopard. Is there anything to do except wander around and run into trees? Is there any reason to do even that. Can I, perhaps, hunt down an eland and then eat it? Any thoughts on this. duh

I loved this game also despite some technical problems with it! It's a long time now since I played it & remember at the time being initially annoyed with the leopard sequences because they were an 'action' aspect which I couldn't understand why was incorporated into this game. I remember that you could skip the sequences but I did try on all occasions to play as the leopard & came to appreciate the significance!
Click to reveal..
The leopard remembers Ann who had a very strong bond with it as a child. I'm not sure how much I have remebered this right but Ann, when she is in the harem, needs to find a flower which is growing quite high up? & the next day she conveniently finds one on the ground - if you play as the leopard you know how that gets there! I remember another scene later on when playing
as Ann the leopard suddenly appears but if you took up the opportunity to play as the leopard beforehand you understand how that is!

I wish I could remember more but playing as the leopard fills in gaps & gives you the leopard's 'view' lol I don't think I've said that too well but hope it makes some sense! smile

Thanks Chrissie, I too know you can skip the Leopard sequences, but I have always wondered why they were there in the first place. By the way, I recently recieved a new version of the game, packaged simply in a jewel case, which (So far!) seems to contain none of the 'glitches' of the original game.

The Haze, how far have you gotten into the game? If it works all the way through for you, I envy you. yes I remember purchasing that version and being so excited to have something that was bug free. Then, when I went to see the Prince the second time (think it was to get him to sign something - it's been a while since I played it), the talk horn did not appear, and I was unable to progress past that point. So I just went back to the original version I had purchased, applied the patch, and it worked with no problems after that.

Chrissie, I would offer to sell you my copy, but since it had that glaring problem for me, I would be reluctant. frown It may not have that problem on your computer, but it is hard to say. If you have the original version, have you tried the patch?

As for the leopard sequences, I loved them, but I was only able to get all the way through the first one. In the other two, my leopard kept getting stuck in place with no way to move him out, so I ended up having to skip them. I really wish I would have been able to see the other two. I really enjoyed the leopard and his connection with Ann.

I also loved this game in spite of some initial issues, and I really liked the ending! thumbsup I wouldn't want all games to end like this, of course, but I thought it worked well for Paradise. smile And I really liked how they handled Ann's amnesia so realistically. thumbsup

I am well into the Molgrave village. If I remember correctly that puts me about half-way through the game. I know I have seen the prince twice with no difficulty. I got the game as a a gift. It has no 'version' on the disk, but is from VIVA media and White Birds, so it must be a later version. Venus, you said you got "All the way through" the first sequence. I did not, but I simply quit. Is there something to accomplish in a leopard sequence?

If I remember correctly, it's just a ?fun? part of the game to move the leopard. wink

I also one of the few that love this game, especially the story and the puzzles(except for the swinging cage).

The Haze, yes, that is the same version I have, but you had much better luck with it than I did. smile Just wasn't compatible with my computer, I suppose. As for the first leopard sequence, the goal is for the leopard to get the flower from the tree for Ann. That is the reason she finds the flower the next morning.

MaG, oh yeah, that horrible swinging cage sequence. hardwall That was the only part of the game I actually hated. It took me forever to get past it! And now when I replay the game, I'll have to do it again because I couldn't save the games to a disk before I converted my computer to Windows 7. They aren't set up like most saved games, as they force you to create a profile. frown

Loved the game otherwise, though. I think it's very underrated. thumbsup

The previous posting was edited by someone else, but now the links are not correct: they show the mini-preview for forums, not the original images.

You can edit it to links if you like, but please do not post the images on the forum. They take up unnecessary bandwidth. Links are accepted. You also realize this thread is 4 years old. grin

I played this on the PC and Nintendo DS (Last King of Africa) the DS version was cleaner and easier.

Here is what the walkthrough for this game says to do:

Click to reveal..
Return to your chamber; go to sleep by clicking on the bed.
You are now controlling the leopard.
Click, hold and drag the arrow to control the leopard.
Move him down the stairs and towards the palace entrance.
As the leopard nears the Madargandier tree, he jumps and knocks one to the ground.

I love playing adventure games like Gemini Rue on my ipad mini and Gray Matter on my PC Netbook.
