I haven't been able to find anything either -- even at YouTube, which is usually fairly reliable for playthroughs. Let's wait and see if another member has played and is familiar with the book puzzle.

I did a little bit of research, as I guessed it would be a French game. Indeed, the original title is "Enquête à Versailles II: Avec Vauban!". This led me to a French forum, and if I understand it correctly, you have to read the phrases on the page to establish the names of the authors. French forum entry on 'books' For instance, "L'Avare" (The Miser) would lead you to its author, Molière. In the same way, the image of the "Puss in Boots" indicates Charles Perrault. If there's a mention of a crow (Le Corbeau), this would refer to the story of the Crow and the Fox, you know, with the fox teasing the cheese from the crow's beak, from the Fables by La Fontaine. If you have the 5 authors, the order would be: First, Molière, then Perrault, then La Fontaine, Corneille and Racine. Of course, I have no clue what I'm talking about, but I hope this helps! Rich P.S. I added some more info today after a brainwave.

Oh, I'm flattered! I felt intrigued, because I thought the game was related to the two old Versailles games ( 1685 and Testament), but apparently this is not the case at all. It just feels weird that I've been able to give hints about a game I don't know anything about! Rich

Thanks. It's probably not really a hard puzzle. I think I just must not be seeing something. But going forward...? That puzzle Smokey3869 was stuck on doesn't seem like something I would be able to get either.
Got it! Had to re-listen to some stuff and reorganize it in my brain, then I finally got it.
