I am having troublefiguring out how to restore a saved game. When I go to the top border & click on thingy that means saved game the saved game part comes up but when I click on it it just goes back to the beginning of the game.

That is one of the that is fustrating and annoying about this game. You can save anywhere in the game,HOWEVER if you have not passed by certain danger points such as where guards might be or someplace you might be killed than forget it you will only be back where you were before you entered this dangerous area.I guess that is because PS2 and XBox do not hasve a lot oif places to save

Marseille. Nowhere in the manual that I can see do they bother to tell you that!!!???

I think you're talking about two different BS games!

Mome, one way to do it is to double-click the desktop shortcut (if you have one) -- it brings up a menu that includes restoring a saved game.

The other way to do it, from within the game, is to move your cursor to the top of the screen (left-hand side of the screen) and you'll see four icons. The fourth one from the left is a CD with an arrow pointing from the middle of the CD off to the right. Select that, it's the Restore icon.

Thanks to both of you. I have no idea which is 1 & which is 2!!!!! Anyway, I do see the icons in the top banner of the screen. Right now I'm not sure what the 4 icons are, & I thought I was clicking on the 4th one but will go back & check it out.

I just don't know why I can get into these messes with so simple a game!!!!

If I remember correctly there are five icons.

The first one is for the control panel (and it looks like a control panel or mixing board). The second looks like the Windows logo and it quits you out of the game. Then there are two that look like CDs -- the one with the arrows on the left saves the game, the one with the arrows on the right restores the game. The last icon is an arrow going in a circle, which restarts the game.

ps The Smoking Mirror is the second Broken Sword game. smile

I think I have it figured out?? When I went back into the game (do not have a desktop icon) I discovered I had saved my game under the #0 instead of #1, so I am guessing that the 0 means no save, so I'll just start again. I'm not that far into it.

Thanks for helping.

Even if it's saved in the first slot, you should be able to restore it. I am assuming you're playing The Smoking Mirror (the one with the spider and the art gallery?) -- in that case, highlight the game you want to restore, then go to the lower left-hand corner and click "restore".

Well, I finished this game. It was kind of fun playing both BS 1 & 2 at the same time except for coming to the GB for help, since I couldn't keep the names straight!!!

BUT now you won't believe what my problem is/ I can't uninstall the &^&^&^ game!! Every time I click on the 'uninstall' icon it says I have to close the game before uninstalling. I have tried everything I can think of but it won't work. I have shut down the PC & everything but still no luck!!!! What have I done in this world to deserve this!!!!!?????

Now if only I can upgrade my PC from Windows 98ME to Windows XP (getting opinions from Glitches) so I can play BS 3. I LOVE THIS SERIES.

Mome, are you using the uninstall that came with the game or the "add/remove programs" feature from My Computer?

If neither one of those will work, you may just have to find the BS folder, right click on it, and hit "delete". The problem with doing it that way is that it probably leaves all sorts of files everywhere that don't get removed...

Jenny, I tried both places with no luck. I wonder why this happened?? Never had THIS problem before. If I go thru & individually delete each icon - saves, etc. will that take care of it???

Thanks

Mome

Mome, I've had a few games that wouldn't uninstall using the normal procedures. Don't try to uninstall each part individually, just right click on the "start" button, then on "explore" and find the folder that your BS game is in. Don't open it, just right click on the folder and select "delete". That should remove the folder and everything that is in it.

As for Broken Sword 2, bkrytr, you can get it at CD Access --I don't know if there is anywhere else currently selling it...
