Do you have any favorite series that you just know you will enjoy and possibly buy without trying out the demo?

If so, which are they?

Mine is Mystery Case Files.

Hi, Ana!

Even though it's quite new and there are only 2 games in the series, mine is "Cadenza", followed closely by "Christmas Stories".

I do enjoy the "Mystery Case Files" series, but it's not my favorite.

Since no one has mentioned them, I'll add Grim Tales because The Legacy is a stand-out and Color of Fright along with Bloody Mary are quite good. I have tried or played the others although not The Bride which I could not get to run.

I think Nightmare Adventures: Turning Thorn and Witch's Prison from Ghost Ship Studios qualify as a series. I am starting to replay Turning Thorn and thought of adding to the list of series. I laughed out loud at the horoscopes in one of the opening screens. Part of Aquarius reads: "Old friends will return, possibly from the grave. Stock up on canned goods, bottled water, and ammunition."

New York Mysteries (I agree with Reenie on this one, and let us hope they make more of this and without any changes in the format, new story and puzzles yes, but please keep the same style)

Grim Tales, off and On, they keep switching styles, some are very good, while others are very disappointing

Haunted Hotel
Mystery Trackers
Sable Maze
The Agency of Anomalies

I didn't mentionLost Lands before, because I had only played one and had not yet discovered the other two. Lost Lands: Four Horsemen is at the very top of the list I maintain of the casual games I have played, and I have replayed it, too. I am now deep into Lost Lands: The Golden Curse, and loving it as well (and have discovered there is a third, too!). These games are less like a casual HOG game with mini-puzzles than they are an adventure game with occasional HOG elements. And the HOG scenes it does have are innovative: Each one is based on the situation, and not one of them is "Find a toaster and a tennis racket and a horseshoe in the middle of the arctic." Unusually long-playing games that make you think, make you keep track of where things were because you have to come back and solve something many scenes later once you have found the necessary items. Excellent map with transporter capability. Lovely graphics. Stunning variety of environments. The mini-games are challenging and avoid the extremes of WTF? and Yawn.... Reasonable, non-cardboard characters with decent voice acting. In the CE version, there are the so-called bonus items but they don't "pop up" annoyingly. No arcade nonsense.

Me, too. Although I finished Lost Lands: Golden Curse today and I have to say the Bonus Game was a joke. However, the game itself was absolutely terrific. Some of these casual games are so easy and/or so short that they can be finished in a matter of hours. Not Lost Lands. I played the game off and on for three days. Now, that is what I call getting my money's worth. laugh I particularly liked how some items and puzzles that I discovered early in the game did not come into play until almost the end. So much more realistic and engaging than a game where everything you need is not only right in that scene but is within tennis racket distance of where you are standing. ha ha ha

Now, I am going to go back and replay the earlier two games in the Series. Yay!
