I went into a bedroom past the study room - is this Yeesha's bedroom? If so, I can't find any books to look at. Also went into fireplace but no medallion to pick up here. Totally puzzled here. Also still can't get power on. Can't open roof in Atrus' workroom either!! Totally frustrated at this point and not getting anywhere - help!! Feel quite dumb. duh woozy help think

GeeGee: You HAVE to get the power up and running BEFORE anything else will happen. You'll be able to find the book in Yeesha's and Atrus' room afterwards, along with opening the roof in the observatory. So, just concentrate completely on the power situation, take care of the water locks as Atrus told you too, and that should give you a great start. Good luck.

GeeGee, the lever to open the roof is on the right as you face away from the chair. It is along the fence, and looks sort of like a striped pole with a round knob on the top. Some people have said that they had to lighten the graphics a little to see things.

Syd, if you're still trying to get that door open, put your hand on the knob on top of the lever to the right of the door and pull it toward you...

Atrus' bedroom is the one with the UNLIT fireplace with the large family photo over it!

You can't get to Yeesha's bedroom (where the bookcase puzzle is) or the living quarters (lit fireplace) until you get power. You can't get the book-reading-amulet in Atrus' fireplace without power. You can't open the roof in Atrus' workshop without power. rain2 is right ...get that power.

There are posts earlier in this topic that offer clues on the power-up procedure, or you can try the ingame hints.

Loving the game,

Dadguy

I am sure I have it set right then press the large red button and Atrus does not appear on the crystal viewer!

Help?

fourth - blue should be Light Blue
second - indigo should be Blue

I think the rest is correct.

Dadguy--Is Atrus' bedroom the same room with the fireplace puzzle? If so, where oh where is his desk with the top drawer that has the symbol?

If not, where in heck is his bedroom located? I can only find the fireplace puzzle bedroom and Yeesha's bedroom.

I've got power, just can't find Atrus' desk in his bedroom.

Thanks!
Jayne

You're in the right bedroom. The symbol is actually in the top-middle of the desk. You can't click on it UNTIL you open that little cubby RIGHT ABOVE the symbol. Once you open that little door, you can click on the symbol right below it and open a secret cubby. Hope that helps.

Well - I am having a really bad time here - can't get power going at all - have fiddled and fiddled and my brain is mushy from all this fiddling!! Can somebody please tell me the correct way to get the lights to the proper places? I know I need to get them to rows 3 & 4 and that a blue light needs to be on top of each. Any help would be greatly appreciated smile wave help

Hi again,
I am trusting my stuckness this time isn't as hopeless as last time.
I have managed to get the spire chair powered up and think I have worked out the lock puzzle. But I am guessing the 3 gears below play a part (they have little shapes on them), which is where I sit. Is there a journal page I am missing which gives the hint to the placement of the gears? Fiddling and using the shapes as the key haven't helped. I will continue my searching for the moment.

Rain, that's not the sequence of colors that I used--my problem was with the shapes of the last three that are so much alike. I used these colors and got the message from Atrus: SPOILER

Jenny: Yeah, I knew the shapes of the last three were so close that I'd figure there would be some 'experimentation' with the shapes. Since it was only three, the number of permutations were small, so it didn't take long to get the right sequence. =)

You guys are way ahead of me. I just got the game but had to install drivers for my graphics card. I am having a heck of a time getting the power up. Any thoughts or hints would be appreciated.

Oh, and I let Yeesha's beetles?? out of the box. Am I in trouble for doing that? I sure don't want her mad at me. <img border="0" alt="cry" title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />

Great game so far if only I can get the power up.

Thanks to your postings I think I got the power on. I moved some buttons went to the water thingy and pushed a button there. Went out and there was an earthquake and everything is a mess. Was this suppose to happen or did I just push the wrong button?
I am so confused. woozy

It has something to do with the three control panels that you powered up (hopefully you have) to use the Rock-Ship and the 3rd being there just to power up. If you read the notes carefully, it'll tell you about those three control panels and how to power up the chair. Hope that gives you a little hint to push you through that part.

Hello rain2, I think I powered up two control panels, but can't find the third one..

You saying that the third control is somewhere else?

Rock-ship, don't know what it looks like?

You need to use the Rock Ship to get to the third power panel...

The two you have found will allow you to activate and ride the Rock Ship. You have to set the power properly to allow the Rock Ship to fly to the other power panel.

rain2 -- yes, I've been watching hits on this thread too. Pretty amazing. A lot of people are playing this game.

I'm not sure I'd want to see Riven done in this style. I like it a lot as it is, and I think I'd rather see the development teams focus on producing new Myst games.

I finally got the power on, and now I'm almost wishing I hand't. I suppose that green light I saw before I passed out wasn't natural, was it?

I'm having a great time with the images in the necklace. I thought that probably the necklace only worked for Yeesha, but I guess I was wrong.

The place looks beautiful at night, but I'm worried sick!

It is very hard to quit this game and get some sleep.

Boy, do I know what you mean Becky!!! I found Atrus's two journals and set the crystals--I got pictures for each one, but couldn't do anything, so I assume there's more I have to do. Now I'm getting ready to tackle the books in Yeesha's room.

But considering the night I had last night (or didn't have if you are talking about sleep! wave
