How did you find out about the linking book at the end of the pier....hmm....? hehe. You won't get that book until you visited one of the prison ages and come back. Then you'll see an 'event' happen and then the book will be available at the pier. Good luck.

rain2...I figure out how to use the rock ship and was able to get to the other side..was able to pull the lever for the big star wheel, to be able to get or the rock ship wouldn't move, I am looking at the hints in the game and had to make sure I have 36 lights in the book like circut, had to shut off some to make 36...Okay now I am sitting in the spider chair and everything is lit..

Have to figure out how this works..looking at the journal page..

Boy do we need a lot of patience in this game, and let me say, you need a little push to get you moving..Like identifing where you are, and what this thing is and what it does...

Liz-got to get some zzzzzzzs..until tomorrow..

Thanks rain2, you push help me understand a bit more..

Jenny, pls don't cry - you have to visit the prison ages before you'll be able to travel to Serenia from the pier.

Yeesha's bedroom is situated on the lower level of the house - to get where you have to go to Katherine's bedroom (one with the fireplace), go past it and pull the lever on the edge from where you can see lights of the lower deck of the house. It's quite dark where, but you should find the lever. When the bridge comes and you can visit Yeesha's bedroom etc.

Thanx Marty...

Do you mean I have to find a lever inside the fireplace...?....because I couldn't find one..?

I've done the fireplace puzzle...but it takes me down to where the linking books are.

I seem to be confused..?

I found the kitchen...assuming I will find the bedroom soon

No, no, no - it's not inside the fireplace - it's outside the house right behind the elevator. But if you've managed to find the kitchen, when the Yeesha's bedroom is the room to the left with chess set and bookshelf

If the handle goes back all the time it means that you have turned on more than 36 conductors.
Check their number once again (29 - the place where you can go with your ship, 5 - near the docks and 2 - up the ladder).

You can have 7 near the docks and none up the ladder too. The critical figure is exactly 36 lights.

However, once you're down there, what do you do at the bottom of the lift (where you've got the three cable pulls - when you're hanging out of the bottom of the spire!)

That's right Adventuregamegirl20, but the wheels stand in position "one" already smile That's a dirty trick from Cyan, I guess.

I have spent enought time in the fireplace. When one has just one square left, where is the best area to be at? In a corner? In the center? I need some strategy pointers here.

I just remembered that Yeesha had a blue stone at her neck in the cave drawing in the Cleft in Uru. That must be the necklace. So I guess she gets the necklace back!

Ooops. Uh, maybe she gets it back.

Edit -- possible spoiler for Uru plotline:

The necklace might explain in part how Yeesha teaches herself the Art while in D'ni. She could go into a schoolroom, and see flashes of lessons that were once taught there. Just fragments, but still more than Atrus or Catherine or Gehn would know.

gremlin, I think Marty answered your question. For info, there are 7 documents lying around Spire from Sirrus. You should take pics of them all because it seems we have an endless roll of film.

In these docs you'll find clues as to the correct tuning of the cables (via the gears). Marty makes a good point about the slot position on the gears... you must recognise that when you get there, you are already in position #1 on all three gears (i.e., there isn't a position 0).

JoanieS and Chiefette, I initially had trouble with the fireplace puzzle. But, after getting to the end with one spot left to light, I reset the puzzle and just LOOKED at the arrangement. At that moment I could see that all of the lighted spots were easy to illuminate with just 7 clicks.

If you still need help.....

If you would like to post your impressions of Myst IV in a mini-review format, I've opened up a thread just for this purpose in the Reviews Forum . The diversity of viewpoints in a collection of mini-reviews is extremely helpful. Assist people who are considering purchasing the game by sharing your thoughts.

Thanks!

I am stuck trying to solve the crystal puzzle. Very confused by some older postings. One said something about the colour and place # for shape. Then another said this was wrong and to copy the picture from the book in Atrus' bedroom. Please clarify for me. Thx. duh woozy help

GeeGee, that is correct, copy the picture from the book, it tells you exactly the color and shape and position of the cystals..

Liz--for example, there are different shapes for color red, and the same goes for the other colors..

GeeGee, once you get power up and the roof open and antenna aimed, you will be able to enter the crystal symbols into the viewer. The diffuiculty with this puzzle is that the pictures in the books don't always look exactly like the crystal symbols in the machine. In fact, two of the tall crystals (the ones with twin spires on them) can look very much alike.

So, to allieviate us from this ambiguity, some have posted solutions by noting the color and position of the slider (the slider is what you use to change the crystal symbol shape). When I am frustrated by a puzzle, I like a direct spoiler type of solution like this.

So, go ahead and enter the symbols and colors per the book. If you still have no image, you might try referring to the other solution using the slider positions.

Hope this helps.

Dadguy

okay set the gears at there position, noting that one is already in position...now going back up to the keyboard slider...I have a question here..once you play the first frequency, do I press the left blue button and play the second set of tunes, and so on?
