Hi, everyone!

I don't know whether or not this has already been posted. If so, sorry for the duplication.

I've been replaying JTR and discovered another ending. When I returned to the November 27 Crime Scene during the evening of Day 11 and set up my camera, I didn't take the picture soon enough. After the train passed by, I could see Fausta laying on the ground and Jack was gone. I wasn't able to leave the location, so I crossed the tracks and examined her body. A knife was laying beside her, so I picked it up. When I turned around, Jeff was standing there, and the newspaper headline read that I was arrested for being the killer.

It's amazing the things one discovers by accident <G>!

I hit that one right off as I am not as good a picture taker, as I thought I might be. laugh

Hi, gaterlaw!

I wonder if that happened to other people playing for the first time, and they thought that was the only ending. I don't remember seeing anything that prompted me to "try again".

*Spoiler*

To me, a prompt might be literal or just the in game knowledge that you hadn't done things right. To me it was more of a "games over", where I had messed up the challenge.

For one, I knew I wasn't the Ripper, so it couldn't be right. Two I went there to "take a picture of the Ripper and I assumed, stop the murder. I wasn;t sure if I had taken the picture or not the first time, but I sure hadn;t stopped the murder. Plus you can't go anywhere in the game except up to where the victim is, when you messed up - so there is no way around getting picked up and falsely charged.

So - I knew there had to be more game and I sure was going back to get the rest of it. smile

Since Samuel turned out to be the killer in "The Black Mirror", I don't think I would have been so sure that James didn't have a secret life <G>!

Luckily, I took the picture the first time around, but I don't know what I would have done if I'd gotten this ending then.

I killed that poor girl about three times, each time going back to my saved game just before trying to take the picture (got smart all of a sudden and was wary of this sequence) and doing it again and again....never even thought about thinking the game was definitely OVER....and since this is a timed sequence and I had trouble aiming the camera quick enough I screamed for a saved game to get me past it & Jenny came to my rescue....loved the game, but glad I did not let my granddaughter P see me playing it, some stuff just too 'old' for her yet like the bloody finger in the mail package etc. I suppose there could be a sequel to this, but what would be the point, since the ORIGINAL JTR story has NEVER BEEN SOLVED and this game is based on that premise.....one does not expect to find out - in the end - who the killer is/was. Having fun
Love, Betty Lou laugh

I seem to have a bug in this sequence. I try to put the plate thing in the camera, but it stays in inventory. So I don't think I have "film" in the camera.

Hi, Jenny!

I think there's more than one plate because I also had one remaining in my inventory after loading the camera. Go ahead and take your picture.

Hi, Betty Lou!

And here I thought I'd discovered something that nobody else had seen <G>!

I took my picture, but wasn't sure I'd actually captured Jack. When I went to get the film developed, I realized I'd been successful.

Susie07 is right, not a bug, just more than one plate. Flash snap away. smile

I thought this was a nice historically accurate detail. Old flash photography would have meant carrying around more than one plate. On the other hand, they took quite a while to "take" also - so they got points on one area for accuracy, but had to fudge on the other for the gameplay. Oh well. laugh

Thanks for letting me know.
The reason I thought something was wrong was that when I assembled the camera for practice in the hall outside the newspaper office, the plate did disappear from inventory.

Hmmm I either missed that or it didn't happen in my game. Well, that would be confusing later on then. eek

Hi, gatorlaw!

I wonder what would happen if we load more than one plate and then take the picture. Would the guy at the Pinkerton Agency tell us there was a double exposure? I'm gonna give it a try <G>!

Hi, Jenny!

Now that you mention it, I do remember the plate disappearing from my inventory when I was assembling the camera at the newspaper office. When the time came to actually take the picture, I didn't realize another plate was in my inventory until after I'd captured my "Kodak moment". Otherwise, I may have loaded both of them and who knows what would have happened <G>!

It won't let you load a second plate. The icon doesn't come up to let you click on it. You only get the eye icon to look into the camera, not the miniature of the plate to click on the camera.

Besides, I think there is really only one plate because there was only one in the hall outside the newspaper office.

Hi, Jenny!

I just replayed that sequence and was able to take a second picture of the woman standing there alone after loading another plate and more magnesium powder. The next day, I got the pictures developed.

That's interesting.
I never got the picture in time because I kept trying to put the plate in inventory into the camera.

Hi, Jenny!

Once you take the picture, the flash will scare Jack away, and Fausta will be left standing there alone. If you don't take it before the train passes, she's killed and you're arrested for her murder. I don't think Jack or Fausta will appear until you've loaded the camera and clicked on it when you see the "eye" cursor. You can't load another plate until you've already taken one picture because you only get the "eye" cursor and not the "hand" cursor.

I also kept loading the plate, expecting it to disappear in my inventory, but finally decided to override my logical mind and take the picture anyhow. It took four times, but I finally got the picture, much to my surprise. For me, that sequence took forever. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who was confused by this.
