Embarrassing as this is, I need help getting back into my laptop. I reset my lockscreen password, and can't remember what it is. Been trying to get in for over an hour. Total frustration with my short term memory.
It's Windows 10, and I only have one user account.
Short of a system restore I don't know what to do to get in.
I don't have safe mode enabled.
Any suggestions?

Do you have a phone that receives texts or another computer? Googling it says.. on the lock page click on I forgot my password.. do you see that...Type the captcha letters to prove that you're not a robot Select the recovery email address from the drop-down menu Complete the hidden part of the email challenge.
Click Send code.
On your phone or using another computer, using the recovery email account check for the Microsoft account code and enter it to verify your identity. Enter a new password.
Click Next. Click Next again to go back to the sign-in screen.
After completing the steps, you can once again unlock your PC with the new password. If the new password doesn't work right away, restart your computer, and try to sign in one more time.

Thanks Winfrey. I got in finally, and changed my password again. There was no place on my lock screen that said "forgot password" Anyway I'll make sure I have it written down for sure from now on. joe

I do that on my desktop at home, but use a password on my Surface tablet.
