I have had this game stuck in the cupboard for a few years so I decided to give it a try, the trouble
its version 1 and to bring it up to date takes about 8 patches, so I decided to try, only it wont patch, it gives a message it cant find "old"game. can anyone tell me the easiest way to do it

Merrick, I'm gonna move you to glitches. They'd be more likely to be able to help you get it running, but they will need info such as the OS, I expect.

Have you tried to launch the game to see if it will play first? I found a lot of hits on the internet about patching issues with NWN 2. What operating system are you using? I'm wondering if the game was installed to a location where the patches can't find it.

I guess the first thing to do is figure out which "version 1" you have. Do you have version 1.00788 of the game or a different version?

There is some discussion at GOG and mention of a "patcher" file which I guess is this

That sounds like you don't have the right patch -- or aren't starting with the right patch.


Apparently some people give up and buy the GOG download.

Patches-Scrolls has an "auto-updater" but I don't know if it works.

Just wanted to point out that if you wait for a sale for this game on GOG that you would pay considerably less than the price listed currently ($20.00). GOG sells the "complete" version with all necessary patches, the main game, and all three expansion packs.

I have two of this game ( dont know how that happened) so I dont feel like buying any more especially as I am not 100% sure I can do it. the installed version is 1.00.788 and I already tried the obsidion
patches, I even tried to do the patching from inside the installed game folder and I still got the, "cant find old game". My OS is windows 7 ultimate

Just had a look at neverwinter vault and I counted 32 patches to take the game from 1.00.788 to 1.23
thats ridiculous

That's a ridiculously large number of patches. I am thinking that at least a few of those patches might be related to multiplayer rather than the single-player game.

If you need something in the last patch, you still have to install all previous patches in order.

Considering how many of them there are, the "patcher" may actually have some value if it keeps track for you.
