Thanks for the info., blsbet44. Is it for everyone, or just for AOL members? Gigi6113, I can't identify with your pain. I have a pile of unplayed games on the shelf, and more unplayed games on the way... Have you played all the OLD ones? By the way -- re: Dark Fall: The Journal -- am I the ONLY one who was disappointed NOT to get killed off in that game? I mean, it's a scary game; and everyone ELSE got killed off; and you THINK you're in grave danger all the way through it... so was anyone else surprised (at least) that you couldn't get killed off?

Vertex, sim city 3000 isn't the same as the Sims... As well as using 'rosebud' you can also create sims with skill points... in the create family screen, make em as kids first, then before you leave the screen, edit them and make em into adults
A bounce a day keeps the doctor away!! Playing Sims2, Sherlock, Phantom of Venice Reading Storm Breaking

Thanks for the explanation on the SIMS and the SIM CITY 3000! I was wondering (a) What was wrong with me. (b) Why couldn't I get the game to perform as others described. Now question: I read "expansion packs" and in the early days, this meant you had to buy a certain game to start, then buy additions when you master the basic one. Which one should be first, or will any of them do? Which ones will NOT play well on XP? And Danyboy, your son would certainly improve his English if he had the incentive of a certain lovely young daughter of Katsmom.......
OF COURSE THOSE CRAZIES ARE HAPPY! And that makes me crazy!

[/qb] Vertex, my lovely young daughter won't even DISCUSS boys (yet)... As far as The Sims go, my daughter has ALL of them; and we have an XP. No problems with XP, whatsoever. She started with The Sims (original game). Each expansion pack was added to that game, which you must have if you ever need to re-install the whole thing. Some expansion packs must be installed before others, so if you later buy one that goes FIRST; well, then you have to do the "uninstall/reinstall dance"... She tells me that Sim City 3000 (and we have 4000) is completely different. In that game you build cities (buildings), but you can't create the people. In the regular Sims games, you create characters and control every move they make. You also create homes for them, of course. And as recently discussed -- you can also kill your Sims people off (intentionally or not)... My daughter is anxiously awaiting the release of the NEW Sims game -- Sims 2 due out by September 15th, they say. That will be an entirely NEW game, with (I'm sure) lots of NEW expansion packs to buy.

Thank you and thank your daughter, Katsmom! Please don't think less of me if I confess, (we are all friends after all), that my introduction to base games with expansion packs was DUKE NUKEM. Now wait, before you delete me! This connection happened because he was a guest on COSMO'S COSMIC ADVENTURE, a story of a little alien boy who, with his parents, were on their way for a visit to Disney World on Earth for his birthday when their spaceship crashed on the Forbidden Planet and he was separated from his Mommie & Daddy. I got the DUKE NUKEM shareware, which was like an action cartoon, then one day bought DUKE NUKEM 3D. That literally nauseated me, so I begged whatever store that was to allow me to trade. It taught me a valuable lesson: ALWAYS check out the game with knowledgeable people before you get involved. And Katsmom, I have known Danyboy for a couple of years now. If his son is as gentlemanly as he is, your daughter had better snap him up!
OF COURSE THOSE CRAZIES ARE HAPPY! And that makes me crazy!
