That's a good question Jenny. Most of the games I've played usually contain battling dragons. The exceptions to that were Divinity 2 where you gain the ability to be a dragon for certain portions of the game and Skyrim. In the latter you get the ability to call and "tame" dragons using a shout learned in the Dragonborn expansion. Doing a quick search, it looks like many of the suggested ones are older console games. Hopefully, we'll dig up some others.

MobyGames has a list of games that involve dragons here. That might be a starting point for researching your question.

Thanks for the link, Marian.
You'd think there would be more games that featured riding a dragon considering how fun it is.
I know about Panzer Dragoon, where you ride a "dragon-like" creature. But those graphics are a bit much -- especially on a big LCD monitor.
And I know there are parts of the Drakengard games where you can ride a dragon, but those are for Playstation, not PC.
As you said, Trail, most games seem to be about fighting dragons, not flying with them.
I didn't know you could turn into a dragon in Divinity 2. It sounds similar to Divinity: Dragon Commander where you can turn into a dragon. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but it looks like flying as a dragon may be as close as I can get to what I'm looking for.

I should clarify, it's Divinity II the Developer's cut, not Divinity II: Original Sin. It's part of the Dragon Knight Saga and contains the expansions Ego Draconis and Flames of Vengeance. Here's the link at GOG Divinity II: Developer's Cut Flying as a dragon takes a little getting used to, but I found the game quite entertaining.

Twinsun flies around on a dragon, at least in the second game. It was one of my earliest forays into pc gaming, and in a strange way got me into adventure games (as opposed to dark side stuff). Its on GoG I think.

I know Dragon Riders: Chronicles of Pern involves riding dragons. I'm pretty sure your character only rode the dragon in cut scenes, and you never had control over flying the dragon yourself. Am I misremembering? It's been a long time since I played that game.

I think Twon Ha translates as dragon in Talan I missed out when I played Outcast -- I thought I wasn't supposed to ride the Twon Ha because the Talan that sold him to me said so. I didn't realize until halfway through the rest of the game that the seller was full of it.

Jenny, I just loved riding/flying around on the back of Rynn's dragon too. It is the only game where I actually went a bought a joystick to use when dragon riding. The stick made it really feel more like navigating and soaring. It also made fighting easier once I got use to pushing buttons on it. When I would switch back to Rynn I would go back to using mouse and keyboard. My Twon Ha I would ride it absolutely everywhere I went once I was able to. Just loved, loved, loved it. It made getting around so much quicker and fun. I mapped out the whole world on paper cuz kept getting lost otherwise, and did every single side quest there was, so Twon Ha was greatly used.

The stick made it really feel more like navigating and soaring. It also made fighting easier once I got use to pushing buttons on it. When I would switch back to Rynn I would go back to using mouse and keyboard. I never tried a joystick with Drakan. I bought a joystick (a Madcatz Panther XL) to play Tomb Raider with and it didn't work (the original 1996 Tomb Raider). The selection screen would just spin around and I couldn't select anything or start the game. So I put the joystick away and never tried it with any other game. It was probably a Tomb Raider specific problem because I heard other joysticks had the same problem with Tomb Raider. If I ever play Outcast again, I'll definitely ride the Twon Ha as soon as I get it. It was fun bounding along on the back of the Twon Ha.
