Being very ancient, I cannot grasp how to properly download “saves )- I have studied the information excellently given in Stella’s site but still cannot get them.
Could someone kindly give me step by step instructions?—
My brain is very very tired— thanks- Peter

When I clicked on one of the saves my browser asked if I wanted to run or save. If I click save, it will download to my downloads file.

That's all there is to downloading them.

Let us know how it goes... And, by the way, I tried it in both the Edge browser and the Firefox browser.

No problem... I've got all the patience in the world and am probably older than you! To unzip the file, just right click on it and select "extract all." The files will be extracted from the compressed file and saved in a file of the same name in the same folder - probably your downloads folder. Once you open that extracted file, Stella includes a "read me" which gives you the instructions to use the saved file.

I’m back again Draclvr. I’ve downloaded some saves and extracted them to my desktop. I then went to steam and to the game’s properties and ticked updates as instructed. I’m afraid I have no idea what to do next.
HELP (I did warn you)

The readme says to get instructions at
http://tombraiders.net/stella/walks/TR10walk/savefiles.html

If you've done this part
Quote
Disable Steam Cloud synchronization:

1. Open Steam.
2. Go to your games Library.
3. Right-click Rise of the Tomb Raider and choose Properties.
4. Click the Updates tab.
5. Un-check the option to 'Enable Steam Cloud synchronization'.

the next thing to do is locate your old saves.

On Stella's computer they were at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\XXXXXXXX\391220\remote
but they might be elsewhere on your computer.

Back up any files you're replacing (just in case Stella's saves don't work).
Then copy/paste Stella's saves into that folder.

Thanks Jenny- I’ve managed all that and have located the saves folder but before I transfer them ,I am puzzled because they all seem to be “dat” files. ( I’m more trouble than I’m worth)-Peter

Yes the saves appear to be .dat files with this game.

The extension on game saves varies with the game and the game engine used.

I think I must give up . I have carried out all the instructions and duly placed the dat saves in the saves file. However, they do not appear in the game menu. Thanks anyway for all the teams’ help. I will now have a lie down. Regards— Peter

I'm not sure how this is working with a Steam game, but did you check to make sure there isn't an existing save file with the same name as the one you're trying to place in the saves file?

No Draclvr. The ones I’ve put In are clearly marked 1,2,3,4 and 5 and nothing like those already there —puzzling. —

Well, shucks. I just don't know what else to suggest. Maybe Jenny will have a better idea.

Stella also says this:

So, for example, if you downloaded my save5.dat but you only have three saved games, rename my save5.dat to save3.dat and then move it into the remote folder. (Again, make sure you've backed up your own saves first.) Or, make your own save in the #5 slot, quit out of the game, and then replace your save5.dat with mine.

i'm beginning to think there must be another save file somewhere -- I have diligently searched my computer and the only one that I can find is "C:\Users\peter still\Desktop\Peter\PETGAMES\Rise of the Tomb Raider Windows PC Save Files_files"

However , not one of the 'in-game' save files that I have made during the game appears in that folder.
I wonder if this is the problem.

Anyone of the team who has become bored , please feel free to take up with something a little more that makes sense -- Peter

Have you checked the location they were at on Stella's computer at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\XXXXXXXX\391220\remote

You can also try doing a search for the name of the save on your computer.

Also, I don't know what the menu on this game looks like, but if it shows screenshots of the save, don't go by that. Make sure you actually load the save you replaced and see if that's what loads.

Hi Jenny and all the rest of the team. Thank you all for your help.- Your last message solved the problem.I searched for the number— 391220- and at last found the correct save file. I had been using the wrong one— all is now well and I will leave you in peace. Many regards— Peter.
