Decided to get in on today’s sale and find out that Big Fish is now adding tax to the price. When did this start? Could it ba a matter of whatever U.S. state in which one resides?

Certain states have had tax added for many years now. It seems that it depends on which state you live in.

I'm going to try putting something in the shopping cart and see if my state is now included in this.

Okay, I just tried it, and still no tax added here.

Me too! grin

Well, I stand corrected. I just bought another Game Club credit and it *did* add tax to it. It had to happen sooner or later! Still a great bargain, though! wave

Update: “Note from Big Fish Games, Inc.: We have identified that our system erroneously charged state sales tax on your transaction(s) between October 30 - November 1, 2019. In order to correct this error, we have issued a refund for the sales taxes incorrectly collected on those transactions.”

This is part of an e-mail I received from Big Fish re: a refund.

Huh. I would think they are supposed to be charging tax.

It varies from state to state in this country and I do not believe that it is Big Fish's decision to make but rather the laws of each state.

Yes, but I thought this had changed at some point. Steam charges it. Aren't they both in Washington?

I do see this though. https://www.bigfishgames.com/game/b...es-Tax-Value-Added-Tax-VAT-Requirements/

Maybe I'll be charged in Illinois here. I haven't purchased anything lately as they seem to have stopped having the good sales for non-members. frown

That's odd, oldbroad. It seems to me like many of the good sales still include non-members, but maybe I haven't been paying proper attention. I know there was a BOGO sale not too long ago that was for everyone.

And yes, Big Fish is in Seattle.

BOGO prices aren't cheap enough for me blush.

Don't BOGO sales make the games $6.99 apiece? I thought that was at least sometimes the price for non-club members only?

I do a lot of online shopping. Taxes are charged according to where the purchaser lives, not where the vendor is located.

As far as sale prices, A BO/GO sale for members would mean $6.99 per game since games are $13.99 for members. A BO/GO at non-member prices would be $10 per game since games are $19.99 for non-members. Sometimes the percentage off sales are a better deal for non-members.

Thanks, Sparkle. BOGO prices at non-member prices would of course be ten dollars per game. But yes, sometimes the percentage off sales are a better deal for non-members - that is what I was trying to say.

Yes and yes.

I usually do the 65% off or the super sale where you pay full price for the featured game and additional CE's are 4.99 ea (when I have a long list to make the price even better than 65% off). I have not seen either sale recently. The super sales have changed now and I don't know about the 65% off. Just haven't seen one recently for non-members. I did look again at the membership information but just don't feel it is for me!
