Hi, everyone!

I've only played one or two adventure games since discovering casual games about 10 years so I'm a little rusty. I decided to take a break from casual games for a little while so used my Big Fish coupons to pick up a couple of Nancy Drew games I hadn't played yet. Now I'm stuck!

Since I just got back in the saddle, I'm played Junior Level. I have finished Stage 4, but the items remaining on my Task List are (1) Find missing Stage 2 medallion; and, (2) Complete Wool Challenge. I am pretty sure I finished the wool challenge because I sheared the sheep and identified the breeds and their owners so I don't understand why I can't tick it off and don't have a clue how to find the Stage 2 medallion.

The only locked location is Lake Te Anau, but I have no idea how to find the password. None of the characters have anything to say and all I'm doing is wandering around aimlessly. I would appreciate it if someone can let me know what I have to do to receive the password for Lake Anau. The last messages I have received from the show are (1) Stage 4 has been completed; and, (2) The final stage is ready.

Thanks very much!

Susan

Hi Susie,

It's been a number of years since I have played this game - have you checked out the walkthrough on GameBoomers?

If that does not help, try checking out the hints here on UHS. That way you can get some hints without a full spoiler. smile

Hi, Marian!

Thanks! I looked at the walkthrough and also the UHS file, but I'm still stuck. Apparently, I was supposed to receive a message with the final challenge and password, but that didn't happen . The only messages I received were that Stage 4 has been completed and the final stage is ready. George sent me a message that there is information about some blueprints on her tablet (which should be sitting on the table to her left) but the table is empty. I have a scrap of material in my inventory but don't have a clue where it came from.

I'll keep plugging along and, hopefully, will stumble across whatever it is that I missed.

Sorry I can't be of more help. It must be some little something that you have missed.

The HeR Interactive forum might be a good place to look, too - someone there might have posted with the same or similar situation.

Hi, Marian!

Thanks for the suggestion to check HeR Ineractive. I also found some video walkthroughs on YouTube, so I may check one of them to see what triggers the message with the final challenge and password. I really don't want to start over but I don't want to quit either so, if I still can't figure out what the problem is, I'll load a saved game about halfway through and hope what I missed isn't before then lol !

Hi, Marian!

We have liftoff!! Thank you SO much for suggesting I check HeR Interactive. Apparently, the trigger for receiving the message containing the password for the final stage was finding the Stage 2 medallion that was stolen. I had no idea I could turn around after arriving at Doubtful Sound because I always just headed straight to the kayaks. Once I did that, there was a trail and, after avoiding the falling boulder, at the end of that trail was ... tada ... the missing medallion joy2 ! I returned to the base camp, placed the medallion and immediately received the message with the password I needed to move on. Note to Susan ... check out ALL possible directions at each location so you don't wander around aimlessly for hours.

If you ever apologize again for not being able to help, I will thump you because, if not for your suggestion, I'd still be looking for that <insert expletive here> password lol .

Thank you so much again!

Susan

laugh I remember that trail opposite the kayaking, but did not remember what could be found there or that it would pertain to your problem. Really glad you got that figured out and that the HeR Interactive forum helped. Hooray! wave

Hi, Marian!

I find that unless a game really stands out, they all seem to run together, and details of the last game I played disappear as soon as I begin a new one. I revisited every location in the game ... every one except Doubtful Sound because I was so sure there was nothing left to do there.

I would never have figured it out without your help, so thank you very much once again. It's been so long that I played a Nancy Drew game, I completely forgot all about HeR Interactive message boards. I'm also grateful you told me that I could use a coupon code to pick up the Nancy Drew games because I was able to use 2 that were about to expire.

You are most welcome, Susan! I am happy that I was able to help. Over time I have ended up getting all the ND games on Big Fish with free game codes, and they have served nicely as backups as this way I don't need to use my original CDs.

Hi, Marian!

That's an excellent idea to use coupons for backups of games you already have. I bought the 2 casual Nancy Drew games from Big Fish, but didn't think about checking for the adventure games until you mentioned it. Otherwise, I probably would have used the coupons for 2 HOG games I didn't really want. I downloaded the demo for "Sea of Darkness" and will probably pick that one up as well because I have another coupon that expires at the end of March.

Thanks again for your help. It's very much appreciated.

Susan

Hi, I am going through the Nancy Drew games myself. This time without the help of my grandchildren who are much too old. I am having trouble with the blocks and the subs. I actually got into the sub once couldn't find anything, needed to go and lost the entire thing. Now I am actually completing all the blocks and having the claw recharge, but can't get into the sub. Nothing happens even when I make all the blocks recharge.

Hi, I wish I could remember this part of the game better. If you can't get into the sub, though, then there must be something else that you need to do first. I do know that at one point you need to have opened the trunk in Sonny's tent, and then you will get a message that you can start the third stage - not sure if this is applicable to your situation. If not, then it's something else you must do first.

I am going to start all over again. Sometimes you just can't go back.

Well, there are no dead ends in this game, so starting over shouldn't be necessary. Unfortunately, without knowing what you have done/haven't done, it's hard to know exactly what to suggest. Be sure to look at your task list if you are playing in Amateur mode to see if there is anything else that you could be working on.

I do have some saved games that you could use if you wish, although I don't know as I have anything that would put you back into the game right where you are now.

Good luck!

"I actually got into the sub once couldn't find anything" When you get back in the sub, search each location at different depths. I think there are 3 depths possible but my memory is a bit foggy about that. Have fun!
