So it's the spooky season, and I need a suggestion for the next spooky game to play. Here are the options:

Dark Fall: Ghost Vigil (it's been years since I played all the other Dark Fall games, so I don't really remember them very well)
The Lost Crown
The Painscreek Killings
Soma

Or any other suggestions. But one of these would be awesome, as I already own them. grin

I haven't played any of these before. I want something spooky/creepy. I love this season! Thank you for any feedback. wave2

I would start with The Lost Crown, which is a fantastic game. The sequel is supposed to come out before the end of the year, too.

It doesn't matter if you've played them recently or how well you remember them. Ghost Vigil can be played without playing the others.

The first Black Mirror game (from 2003)
I especially liked the atmosphere in the deserted part of the house.

As opposed to spewing guts?

Lots of good suggestions. Amnesia, The Dark Descent is the scariest game I've ever played.

Wow, thanks you guys! Jenny, yes spewing guts is ok too! I loved Phantasmagoria, haha!

I played Scratches years ago- was not a huge fan at the time. Also played all the Black Mirror games, and I really enjoyed those. But I want something new that I haven't played yet. Although I would consider replaying Downfall (either version), because that game is so good, and so creepy. devil

Oh, then definitely go for Amnesia, The Dark Descent! That one scared the cr*p out of me!

SOMA I liked a scary lot. It is from the same stable as Amnesia and given you already have it, you could start there.
I agree Amnesia is very scary good

Quantity has a quality all of its own

The only thing I'm concerned with in Soma, or Amnesia, is the fact that they're called "survival horror." Does this mean I'll have to be running/hiding/fighting? Because I prefer a more casual scary game, where I can't actually die. Haha! I did play and enjoy Layers of Fear, but I don't know if you can actually die in that game. The Walking Dead, on the other hand, was too much for me. I don't like literally fighting for my life.

I don't know about Amnesia, but some time after Soma was released they added a "safe mode" option to the game where the player cannot die.

There is no fighting in Amnesia. You will only have your wits to hide, sneak etc. to survive. If you get killed, you start right back where you were. Soma is the same way if you play in the safe mode. Soma might be my most favorite game of all time so far.

OK well I can do with the dying, as long as it gives you neverending second/third/fourth chances. lol That does up the scare factor for sure too. So I may start with something a little more tame, like The Lost Crown. Then I'll work my way up to Soma. Haha! I'll definitely look into Amnesia, since it seems pretty popular. May wait for a Steam sale though. grin
