Once you actually have the item in your hand, don't you just then click on "Enter" ??

No, oldbroad. We are adding to the game manual database as much as we can! I'm just glad I checked and found out we didn't have one! If you need manuals for any older games, we have a bunch of there over there.

I don't know Mad. I didn't try that as I had no reason to think that might work. I just was looking around the inventory as suggested by mbday630 and found that when you are holding an item, there is an icon above the inventory icon, and that was the only place I could see to click and it worked.

oldbroad, just FYI. Ghostlady just got the Grim Fandango user's manual up in the Chapel at Mystery Manor.

Argh! I made it through the forest fairly well though I did need a bit of help from UHS hints. A couple of nights ago, I went all around Rubacava checking out all the things I had to do but it seemed so overwhelming that I didn't even try to play the last two nights. Tonight I went in the game feeling pretty good and I did several small things on my own but then I ran into frustration at the fork lift elevator puzzle. I knew where I wanted to go but could not remember or figure out just how to get there and while trying to figure it out, my game kept glitching on me. Several times I had to Alt F4 out of the game and I did let it rest for a bit in between at least one time. I read through all the UHS hints for this section and still was having trouble so I consulted a walkthrough with nice pictures, and advice to use the arrow keys rather than the mouse (definitely easier), and finally made it through that spot.

I will now be worried every time I play that I'm going to run into glitches and with only 8 save slots that is a problem for me. I am already working my way through the save slots for the third time. Thankfully, there was only one important thing I'd done in the 2 hours I lost the first time it glitched, at least as far as I can recollect.

You should be okay, I would think. I haven't played the game on Windows 10, but I don't find anyone posting about it saying that they can't get through the game. I see a few glitches here and there with people posting tweaks for those who have some issues. Maybe I am wrong, but that is my amateur opinion. And if you are really concerned about it, I would think you might be able to back up your saves?

I played the Remastered version on my Windows 10 and was lucky that it never glitched on me at all. I know I also made very generous use of those save slots - multiple times!

With the remastered version, I never had a problem doing the elevator part, but I sure had a hard time doing the tree thing. I never have been able to make heads or tails of that problem. I just driving the wheelbarrow back and forth all the time until I saw the tree wobbling. It must have taken me 1/2 hour each time I played to try and get past that part.

I'm playing in Windows 7, not 10.

I left Glottis up there spinning around while I went over the cables with the wheelbarrow. Eventually, that worked.

With the elevator, I could not manipulate the fork lift well while using the mouse. I clicked on the forklift seat and ended up walking out the elevator door more times than I cared for. Then I could literally see black spots on my screen and if Manny hit one, he was gone. No way to get him back, and no way to get to the menu or my desktop to close the game.

Marian, I'm sure backing up the saves is doable but I have never done it and don't feel like frustrating myself trying to figure that out and having to do that over and over.

Anyway, I still love the game yes.
