Did you download the game through GOG Galaxy? If so, it would automatically provide all the latest updates with the download. I find that Galaxy is the simplest way to download games from GOG anyway as it downloads the entire game at once.

Yes, for sure. And GOG will automatically update the game if updates are available

Apparantly they don't have the earlier patches, only the most recent and the trouble is I don't know which version I have except it is fairly early

That won't matter if you download the game through Galaxy - it will automatically update you to the latest version. You don't need to know what version you have.

Exactly. The most recent patches will also contain the previous patches at GOG. What you get there is a fully patched game. I'm just curious... is there a reason you want to know which version you have?

Apparently there is a vast differance in the game with the later patches and at the moment Im looking for a reason to keep playing because there is a definate "lack of story". Its a building game. In the later version there is an "expedition" mode which mine has not got so I know mine is early and I have heard that even Galaxy has not got the earlier patches but there is a site where you can download all the patches

The updated patch you will get from GOG Galaxy will include *all* of the previous patches - so I am still not sure why this remains a problem? The latest patch is inclusive of all previous patches as far as I know.

What Marian said is correct. If there is an updated patch and you have the game set in Galaxy to receive all updated patches, they will download them automatically.

I did some looking and found that in order to get to Expedition mode, you have to start a new game. You can't get to it "in-game." This quote is from the GOG website which says Expeditions is included and that the GOG version is sold with the 3.0 patch,.. It appears there was a 3.1 update a couple of weeks ago, so make sure you have you game set for automatic updates in Galaxy.

Quote
Now including...
Play with all major updates since launch: Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, NEXT, The Abyss, Visions, the 2.0 BEYOND update, Synthesis, Living Ship, Exo Mech, Desolation and the 3.0 update, ORIGINS, Next Generation, Companions and Expeditions.
