Hi everyone!

I am guessing this might be the best place to ask this question as posting it in the trading post seems like it might be a violation of the rules since i wouldnt be posting a specific item with a price.

i have several dozen game boxes that im wondering if there is any demand for or should i just toss them.. its mostly big box stuff from the 90's but there is some stuff in the smaller boxes, its right around the time they really started switching out for the smaller.

what im wondering is would it even be worth the time and energy to make a huge list and post, or is that something that probably no one is really interested in. with it costing what it does to ship things these days, even lighter weight stuff, im thinking very few people if any would want to deal on just a box? even if the box was just a couple dollars seems like shipping would kill it? outside or something semi valuable I guess where it might be worth it to someone to double the value of their case only game or something.

Hi
As a collector I am always interested in having boxes, or even getting a better box thn one I might have. Its probably not a huge market but some games will be greatly enhanced in value if they come in a box as opposed to just having the contents, ditto if the box is pristine rather than dented or creased. I don't resell mine but I would still look to get a better box than one I had for quite a few games.
Whether its worth the effort is probably dependent on the nature of the game. If eg what you have are games I can buy for not terribly much on ebay and there are plenty of them then perhaps its not worth the effort. But if the whole game isn't readily available or sells for a bit more than the avergae, maybe its worth making a list.
You should probably be prepared to send photos etc regardless of how you list - I would certainly want to see a box I was buying - but maybe you could list the boxes with a condition description (as new, good, fair, poor etc) and then offer to send further info and pictures to anyone interested.
Hope that helps and feel free to follow up wave

It's ok to post a question here, especially since the forum isn't as busy as it was before all the downloads started.
I think it may be worth trying to sell some!

I have several vintage games on CD/DVD for which I haven't been able to acquire a copy with box, but only in the jewel case. This irritates the heck out of me. I would no doubt buy these games again if I would be able to find copies with boxes. Even better would be to buy the boxes alone, of course. But, with that being said, the market for this is probably extremely small.

I've always saved my boxes and papers, but somehow one of them went missing - Shadowgate Windows 3.1. If anyone has one, I would purchase it.

I have an entire game room, and hundreds of games, boxes and all.

Yes, there is a very small market for boxes-only. Collectors might get them missing or damaged - and to buy just a box is cheaper than the whole boxed game again smile

I can attest that there is definitely an interest in PC big boxes in collector market (and for gamers too who own game but not the box). You might be interested in checking out a few Facebook groups on PC Big Box collecting. If/when you post list of what you got it would become clearer if you had something collectors are after like Sierra or Lucasgames boxes
