Hi all As foreshadowed, it’s been a while (5 years or so) since we have done a list, and so (and based on some earlier consultation) we thought we would bring it back, but with a bit of a twist. First things first: we are adding Tex Murphy: Tesla Effect to the Hall of Fame (HOF). It featured prominently in our earlier lists ever since it was released and came first more than once. Plus Tex deserves to be in there. Our HOF is therefore: Amerzone Black Mirror Broken Sword 1 (Circle of Blood, Shadow of the Templars) Dark Fall: The Journal Dreamfall Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers Gabriel Knight: The Beast Within Grim Fandango Longest Journey Lost Crown Lost Horizon Myst Riven Sanitarium Still Life Syberia Syberia 2 Tex Murphy: Tesla Effect Timelapse Zork Nemesis Zork Grand Inquisitor Plus Isabelle of course, but that goes without saying With respect to the lists, the idea behind them is to help other boomers work out what they might want to play next. The collective wisdom of all of us helps identify various possibilities. Essentially, you are answering the question "if I want to play an adventure game, what would you recommend." That is still the objective with this list, but between the HOF and the previous lists we have a lot of recommendations about what are essentially 'older' games. With this list we therefore want to try and unearth some more recent games. On that basis the rules (there are always rules) are as follows: - you can list up to 10 games - 5 of those can be released whenever ('old' games - ignore the HOF games because we already know about them) - the other 5 need to have been released in the last 5 years ('new' games) You don't have to list 10 if you only want to recommend a couple, nor do you have to list equal numbers of old and new. Feel free to list 10 new games, or just 5 old games, or 5 old games and 3 new ones. Whatever suits, but no more than 5 old ones. As far as "released in the last 5 years" is concerned, take it as being any game released in 2018 to the current date. That picks up a bit of overlap with our last list/s and everything since. The 'years' tab here and our own list of latest releases here will assist. When you list, can you please try and list alphabetically as it aids in the tabulation. In doing so, ignore 'the' (so The Dark Eye would be listed under 'D' for dark). The list will stay open for about three weeks, and I will post updates as we go. Who wants to go first?

Well Uncle Reg you are absolutely right about Gordian Rooms 2 no more point and click and I Do not like WASD keys nor controller although I have a decent one the movements make me sea sick and I would imagine I would Not be able to play the Actual game since They Cranked up the Video Card requirements, Gee-sus are some of these Devs. in Cahoots with the Video Card Companies? So needless to say I Removed GR2 from my Wishlist.
Let me know what you think of Meridian prologue.
Oh one last thing re: The Eyes of Ara, did you manage to find All the blue? gems to unlock the bonus Chapter, I missed 2 of them so on my next replay I will have to follow a WT from time to time to collect them all.

Thanks for bringing The List back, flotsam.
Beyond a Steel Sky Call of the Sea Dreamfall Chapters Encodya Memoria Slice of Sea Syberia 4: The World Before Truberbrook Unforseen Incidents Yoomurjak's Ring
It was difficult to leave off Carol Reed games, House of Da Vinci games and all the Room games, but with only 10 spots I thought most of those reading the results of The List already will know of those great games. Just my preference, but I see why they are included on many lists.
I point, therefore I click.

Can it really be true that there are no Monkey Island games in the HOF? Monkey Island 1-3 Discworld 1 Simon the Sorcerer 1 Tales of Monkey Island Return to Monkey Island Syberia 4 Deponia Doomsday Red Dead Redemption 2 Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island is due out July 20th.

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Well I, too, could list hundreds of older games that I would absolutely recommend - but after reading flotsam's preferences I stuck to much more recent releases. And the majority of my more recent purchases I haven't yet played .... hence my paltry offering !!

Here's my list.
The Eyes of Ara The House of Da Vinci The Room The Room 2 The Room 3 The Room 4 Syberia 4 (The World Before) Gorogoa Drowned God
Most of you will REALLY question "Drowned God," but I still remember vividly how impressed I was at the time (1996). If it still has interest after nearly thirty years, I have to include it here. Thanks for the opportunity.

Flotsam, I have a question. It was brought to my attention that platform games are not considered Adventure games. If this is true can I revise my list ???

I have played all the games I have listed. I enjoyed every one of them. They have very postive reviews or better except for one, Haven Moon. I do not agree with the negativity nor did I have any problems running it. Out of all those declared "Myst Like" games I felt this was the closest "Myst Like" I have ever played. Nice game if you have not tried it Another Tomorrow - 2022 Haven Moon - 2016 - A nice review of the game and a good number of Screenshots - click on a certain area to enlarge that view Inside Depth 6 - 2021 MYST VR - 2021 - Runs in both Standard and VR modes. I was able to play this in VR. It was an awesome experience, one I will never forget. ScreenshotsProminence - 2015 - One of the best Sci Fi's I have ever played. Take a look at that 2nd video - owner / developer explaining features and overall vision of Prominence before release Quern - Undying Thoughts - 2016 SOMA - 2015 Syberia: The World Before - 2022 The Descendant - 2016 Titan Station - 2022 2018 HOF
It's never too late!

Winfrey, feel free to revise but I think a bit of actiony adventure is ok. And I understand what you say about Drowned God TH; I loved the conspiracy-babble and the sometimes diabolical puzzle solving that accompanied it.

I'm always lagging behind in my game playing, but all the games here I've played within the past 10 years. Like most of us, there are many others I could have added, but I settled on these because each one has something unique that makes it unforgettable to me, whether it's the laugh-out-loud humor, spooky atmosphere, different gameplay, memorable characters, lovely puzzles, great stories, or any combination of these characteristics that can make a game special.
Anyway, for this moment in time, these are my choices:
Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon (1997) Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders (2019) Excavation of Hob’s Barrow, The (2022) Eyes of Ara, The (2016) Goetia (2016) Gorogoa (Win: Dec. 2017, Mac: 2018) Longing, The (2020) Papetura (2021) Paradigm (2017) Shivers (1995)

Good Morning, Oldbroad; Just a quick "Thanks" for adding PARADISE to your list. I never have included it on mine because I thought I was the only other player that actually liked that game.
