I am starting a new thread (part five) of What Casual Games Are You Playing Right Now? so that we can continue our discussion, as the last thread is getting very long.

For those wishing to read the previous thread which was part four, it can be found here.

I just started the Labyrinths of the World: Lost Island CE. Playing this one for the first time.

I just finished Mystery Tales: The Hangman Returns. It was a good enough game but the puzzles were not really to my liking. I did solve all of them but one which I used the guide to complete but most of the puzzles were more of the *I clicked around enough until I got lucky* type. I suppose I should have gotten the other one that way also, but it wasn't happening. Just a mirror puzzle but for some reason I couldn't get them turned right.

Next up, Hidden Expedition: The Pearl of Discord.

It sounds worth playing, ob. I don't always get those mirrors turned right either.

I haven't played The Pearl of Discord yet. I hope you enjoy it.

Still playing the Lost Island CE as well as played and finished a time management game yesterday of the name of Turbo Pizza. I had a lot of fun with that one.

I just discovered I have "Scratches" (Director's Cut and the sequal) in my Big Fish collection woozy
[Who would have put it there ?? I'm sure I didn't !!]]

I already have the original release and subsequent releases and have played them all - some more than once - but I simply can't resist the temptation and so I've now fired up the Big Fish version !!
And no doubt I'll scare myself all over again scared lol

That is great, Mad! I have the CD version of the game and I now regret not having bought it on Big Fish as well - because it was removed from their catalogue and has not been available there for years now. I hope you enjoy the replay. wave

I just finished all but the last 5 levels (the game has 50 levels) of Go Go Gourmet. I am putting it aside now, as I am finding the last 5 levels too difficult to complete. Maybe at some point later on I will give it another try.

I have also lost track of what I was doing in Lost Island and will probably shelve it until a later date. It was good Domini fare, but I just wasn't in the mood for a HOPA the last few days.

I was getting ready to say that BF doesn't sell Scratches. Good think I kept reading. I played the disc and also the Director's Cut which I have on Steam. What is the sequel though?

I have never purchased any Scratches games from BF.
In fact at least three other games have ended up in my BF Purchase History that were never bought from them.
(And I still have the original disk versions that were bought elsewhere.)
How on earth that happens I have no idea !!

And I’ll have to check on the title of the Scratches sequel, oldbroad, and let you know.

EDIT.

I just remembered …. it was called “The Last Visit”.

Yes, you have mentioned before, that some games showed up that you never bought. I don't know if I would like that, being the nervous nellie that I am.

I've never heard of The Last Visit.

At any rate, enjoy yourself!

The Last Visit was included in the Director's Cut of Scratches, which was sold after the original game came out. It serves as a kind of epilogue (?) to the main game.

Well I played the Director's Cut and don't remember it at all (which doesn't mean anything). I wonder if it was something that downloaded separately and I didn't know about it. If I remember next time I fire up my Win 7, I'll try to take a look at it.

Thanks.

As I recall, The Last Visit was an option on the main menu, to be played after the main game was finished. Or maybe it just opened up after the game was finished - it's been too long for me to remember for sure.

Yeah, I probably played it but just don't remember. I played the Director's Cut in 2018.

Yes. On my BF version there is an option (in the opening menu) to play the main Director’s Cut game OR (I think) the Last Visit. 🤗

Thanks!

I have finished The Pearl of Discord. I can't comment on the story but I did like most of the puzzles.

Next up - Labyrinths of the World: The Devil's Tower.

Thanks for verifying that, Mad. thumbsup

I'm glad you liked the puzzles in Pearl of Discord, ob.

I haven't played The Devil's Tower.

I am now on level 60 or so in a match 3 game called Undiscovered. I am enjoying it despite the vines (you would have to read the negative reviews to see what trouble they caused a lot of players) and I have not had a level with vines now for about 30 levels. This game was convincing me that my graphics card is failing as every so often the screen becomes a jumbled flashing mess - I alt+tab when this happens and then go back in and carry on until it does it again. I just tried another game thinking it would do the same thing, and it hasn't happened. So, not sure what's up with that. Further testing is required. headscratch However, I am going to try to continue with Undiscovered as I really don't want to give up on it when I have gotten this far.

Good luck with it Marian! Any idea how many levels there are?

Well, I am on level 67 now and in chapter four. I looked around online to see if I could find out how many levels there are, and I couldn't find any info. Hopefully there are no more than a hundred levels. Beyond a hundred levels and it might wear out its welcome. grin

Well, I got my wish, as the game ended up having ninety levels. I just finished. All in all, a good match 3, but only if the player gets a handle on how best to strategize with the vines. There were only a handful of levels with the vines, all in the 20-something levels, but I can see where a person could throw in the towel right then and there if they couldn't figure out how to manage it.

Now to decide what's next!

I am currently playing Grim Tales: The Hunger CE; most of the way through the Bonus Game, so will be finishing soon. It's a decent enough game, nothing special, but enjoyable.

I'm glad you were able to finish the game. I did take a look at it, including the reviews about the vines. It sounds good except if that was what was causing your "jumbled flashing mess". Did you play in Win 10 or Win 7?

I played this on our old Windows 7 computer that my son got working again. I don't see anyone else mentioning that graphics problem so I think it's probably specific to my computer. The last 10 levels or so I only had it happen once. As long as it is not happening with other games, I am not going to worry about it. The game came out in 2014, I believe.

I don't see anyone having the graphics problem in the reviews, so it's likely just something about my setup and this particular game. It was a bit of an annoyance but happily not a deal-breaker.

I just started Lunch Rush HD. It is a lot like Diner Dash, which I liked. We will see how far I get. It has sixty levels.

I finished Labyrinths of the World: The Devil's Tower last night. It was a pretty good game with mostly good puzzles but one of them did annoy me because, even though I solved it, my solution was not accepted. I'm sure I spent at least an hour or so on the puzzle so I wasn't about to try it again. The puzzle is in Chapter 3 and there are these gold ball things on arms (like atoms or something - sorry I am not better at descriptions or puzzle types) that had to be all connected and I HAD them all connected, no empty slots, no leftover arms, looked just like the picture in the guide. Oh well. duh

Next up is Dark Romance: The Swan Sonata.

It is always disappointing when a puzzle does not accept a correct solution. Still, you can feel the satisfaction of having solved it anyway.

I finished all sixty levels of Lunch Rush HD and am now playing Restaurant Rush, which is kind of a combination of a strategy game and a match 3 game. Not sure how far I will get with this, but it will be fun to find out.

I haven't played Swan Sonata yet.

Swan Sonata is starting out very nice but I admit, I did already skip one puzzle that (apparently) I didn't like. lol

I see there is a "cooking games" sale today. I thought of you and family when I saw that.

Swan Sonata sounds nice (other than the puzzle you didn't care for). smile

And yes, I have been trying not to buy a cooking game today... wink
