I am playing Word Bird Supreme, a twist on word search games and a genre I ordinarily loathe. Word Bird offers large boards, plus power-ups and a scoring system I have yet to understand fully and probably never will.
One feature which I disliked at first allows the game itself to enter the longest or best word possible that starts with the first letter clicked on after the cursor starts to sparkle. When the game played "fedyadeen" in what looked like a mad woman's staircase dancing from one end of the board to the other, I grudgingly admitted to myself I was never going to have registered that word in my brain. On other occasions the game has played "onioned" and "belfried," presumably meaning something like: I onioned the soup then belfried an emergency claxon.
Hmm. If you say so, okay.
Word Bird is addictive and much more difficult than it sounds. The bonus is that words which average Scrabble players (and I was one and don't even play anymore) never get to play come up regularly. For example, if I don't flummox the play, I eventually will get "frumenty" and "exaltations" on the same board in a galaxy of linguistic delights. Remember to look for those ght suffixes. They are helpful.
