Good Sunday Morning! A beautiful sunny Mother's Day here. My step-daughter just called from Virginia on her way to the golf course. Otherwise, no plans on the agenda except for hopefully getting my tomato plants in the ground.
Hagatha, I've been on BP meds for 30 years. Family history is the root of mine as it reared its ugly head when I was in my 40's. But I keep it well-managed with meds and keeping active. I can't imagine how annoying it was to have that cuff on for 24 hours! Like Fogfighter, that alone would have raised my BP!
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning everyone. The BP is definitely a family thing. My youngest sister, who was a marathon runner and weight lifter at the time, was diagnosed with high BP at the age of 46. What complicates my symptoms, which may have led to a late diagnosis, is that I have asthma and a chronic sinus infection which makes breathing very difficult at night, which in turn will result in a rise in BP overnight for lack of air. I'm sure it can be controlled with medication and I just can't get too worried about it. I do fail to see how the results from 24-hour cuff can be accurate, since it's an abnormal day with, for me, no sleep and constant irritation. It's like those sleep tests where they hook you up with 50 electrodes so you can't move or lie on your side, and then expect to get normal sleep data from it. It doesn't seem like sound experimental design.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Linda and I have both had high blood pressure for quite a few years controlled with a fairly low dose of daily medication, and we have a home test cuff allowing us to monitor occasionally at differenr times of day when we feel the need, rarely having the stress of going to the doctor's surgery for a more formal test.
Life is what happens while you're making other plans.

Yes, we have a wrist cuff here at home. We took it in and had it calibrated and it's actually fairly accurate. We use it a couple of times a week.

Good Morning Fogfighter, soot, Connie, Draclvr, hagatha, Lex and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! My daughter and son got me a Garmin fitness watch for Mother's Day...I had expressed and interest in one to keep track of my walking, heart rate, etc....they both have them...I haven't set it up yet...I need to be in the right frame of mind to do it. I will familiarize myself with the set up process first and than when I feel comfortable and capable I will do it. I can only do one thing at a time and this week my focus is on the replacement air conditioning unit scheduled for install on Wednesday if it doesn't rain. Hope you all have a good start to your week! Gerry

Good Monday Morning! Supposed to rain off and on all day - already had one little shower this morning.
Got those tomato plants in yesterday afternoon. Some friends came out and did the bending over part and then we sat on the pool deck and drank a few beers. It was a beautiful day. The forecast says mid to upper 80's the last half of the week. Toasty!
Jeeper, Connie, you just can't win with your weather! It's either hot and dry or severe storms. I'm hoping the severe spring weather here is over.
Gerry, I've had a Fitbit watch for many years and I just love it. Although I track my steps, heart rate and sleep on it, it also has a timer which I use all the time for things like boiling pasta. I'm also able to look at the weather forecast and see notifications from a few things - I've turned most of them off, but last night my Messenger on my phone went off while we were watching TV. I was able to check who the message was from and what it was, so I didn't have to get up and go check my phone.
Grabbing another cup of WADDB while I do my Wordle.
It's spring. My life is weeds.

Good morning all,
I've thought about getting a Fitbit or similar watch but I suspect that checking it would become an obsession, so I've decided not to go that route.
It's a lovely day here on the island. I have some administrivia to take care of and then I think I'll go for a walk.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, the watches are connected to your phone by Bluetooth. I use the watch itself for checking the time and using that timer about 99% of the time. I use the app on my phone to check my sleep patterns, steps etc. The sleep patterns are particularly interesting.

Draclver, The sleep patterns app would be a huge problem for me, since I have had insomnia since I was seven years old and it has been the bane of my life.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

My husband has insomnia too. He's worn my Fitbit to bed a few times and it was pretty informative to look at it on the app the next day. To some extent it verified his issues, but it also showed he was sleeping more than he thought he was. But it was still just kind of shocking to see how little "good" sleep he actually gets. It shows the different levels such as REM, light and deep sleep and how long you are in each level. When I look at the app the next morning I can see exactly when I get up to use the bathroom in the night and how long it takes to get back to sleep. Pretty interesting, really.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, Draclvr, hagatha, soot, SpaceQ and everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! Connie how bad was the weather yesterday? Draclvr I'm looking forward to tracking my sleep and walking. My Garmin watch has a lot of features that I will eventually learn to use...I haven't set it up yet. I need to set aside time with my daughter to walk me thru using it so if I have an issue she can help me. Today the new air conditioner unit will be installed...I hope it goes well and there are no issues. Have a great day everyone! Gerry

Good morning everyone,
The landscapers will be here this morning to "repair" my lawn (more like replace) . It has got to the point where it's not comfortable to walk on, as it's all humps and bumps and dead moss. I guess if I'm going to have a lawn, it might as well look good. Next up is the pond, which I want to turn into a perpetual stream, since it would be easier to keep clean. After that the garden should be fine for a few years.
My biggest disappointment in the garden to date is that the wisteria vines never bloom, and apparently, according to my neighbour, they never have.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Tuesday morning! Supposed to start warming up nicely today... I'm ready for it. Tried to sit outside and read last night and had to come in because it was too cold!
Hagatha, does your wisteria get full sunlight? They need that and occasional applications of fertilizer to bloom properly.

The wisteria vines get lots of sunlight. I did feed them last Fall, but still nothing. Apparently some of them just never bloom.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

The vines themselves are lovely, but I wonder if I should replace them with something more reliable. If they've never bloomed in ten years, they aren't going to. I was thinking of kiwi vines, which John and I had at our old house in North Burnaby, and then I got to thinking about black bears and fruit and angry neighbours. The landscapers just finished removing the moss and seeding the lawn. It was almost all moss! I'm looking forward to having an actual lawn.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, hagatha, Draclvr, soot and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! Sounds like everyone is busy with yard work and getting gardens ready. Glad to hear you didn't get stormy weather connie. Good Luck with the well issue too. Soot how are you doing? I have errands to run today. The air conditioning coil in the outside unit got replaced and reconnected yesterday...a different tech will come on Friday to do the annual service inspection of the attic unit. Enjoy your day everyone! Gerry
