OK - I have an issue - I don't know if this is a bug or I need to post this in Hints -- The controls are fine -- I saw Clarissa enter the fireplace - I opened door to it with the piano notes - don't see a Lamp I need to follow her --
Amadey keeps saying "It's too dark .....etc " I do not see the lamp where it should be..
Am I missing something? Does this belong in the HINTS section ?

No worries, but do post any future questions about the gameplay in the Hints forum.

I do remember that part of the game being a bit fiddly for me. Glad you got it sorted. smile

I have finished both Lost Horizons 2 and Gilbert Goodmate and the Mushroom of Phungoria. Both gave me issues with freeze ups and cursor control in that order. I don't know if it was the games or if my problem is with Steam.

Despite the issues, I did enjoy Lost Horizon 2. I liked the puzzles and story but because of the freeze ups I did consult the in game walkthrough a couple of times when frustration set in, though one of the times I'm pretty sure I never would have been able to solve the puzzle as I don't think I had paid enough attention earlier on (maybe due to the play issue).

With regard to Gilbert Goodmate, I pretty much played the whole game with the walkthrough. It's not that it was a bad game but I think just not my type of game at my present age. Maybe if I had started gaming earlier in life when maybe this was the typical game type, I might have had more patience, energy, and time to play it properly. I figured very few things out on my own.

I think I'm going to play Nancy Drew Shadow at the Water's Edge and also replay Primordia next. Primordia is on Steam so we'll see if it gives me problems or not. If so, I will post in glitches about it.

I thought Shadow's Edge was a really good ND game overall. I hope you enjoy it, ob. The one thing I did not like about the game is that there is one timed puzzle towards the end of the game which is a real pain; however, a saved game is available if needed.

I have Primordia but haven't played it yet,

Marian, I'm sorry to say that the Nancy Drew game is not quite agreeing with me. I used the walkthrough once already because I couldn't figure out the Origami puzzle. Now she is trying to teach me about the Tea Setting or something but I'm not getting any feedback and cannot back out of the puzzle. I had to just hit "load" a game to get out of it. It's getting frustrating already.

Probably time to start Primordia which I haven't done yet because I'm afraid it's going to give me issues like the other Steam games did. Then I can be frustrated with two games again laugh.

Sorry you aren't enjoying it so far. We aren't all going to agree on ND games, of course. This is also one of the longest ones in the series, I think. I don't remember having trouble with the puzzles that you mention but there is one (the one that I mentioned earlier) that I needed a saved game to get through. Thank goodness that was the only puzzle like that.

One puzzle in the game a lot of people had trouble with, but I did not because it is found in a lot of casual games and I was comfortable with it at that point.

You know, having thought about it some more, I remember years ago when the game came out, most people who had played the game were complaining about many of the puzzles. MaG and I were the only two who were saying we had really liked the game a lot. I still think it's one of the best ones in the series.

Marian, I solved the puzzle on the second try when I went back in to the game. The frustrating part was not being able to back out of the puzzle. I was stuck in it until I solved it. The puzzle itself was not hard. It took me longer to figure out what I was supposed to be doing. I was able to back out of the other puzzle so maybe this particular one was just a glitch or something. The other puzzle gave me some feedback also, saying that I didn't do it right. This one didn't.

I always appreciate feedback in an ND game when I am doing things correctly. The latest ND game (which I haven't played) apparently does not do this, which is something about it which makes me less than eager to play it. Glad you got things sorted. I don't like not being able to back out of a puzzle; I don't want to feel like I am being held hostage. smile

Yeah, it's like claustrophobia or something - panic starts setting in. scared

The other good news is that Primordia seems to be running just fine so I guess it was just those last 3 games that were the problem and not Steam. Hopefully, I am not jinxing myself by saying that. laugh The bad news about Primordia is, I am stuck already right at the beginning! shocked

Using the walkthrough again for Nancy Drew. How is a person to know to set her alarm to have something happen that will advance the game a little? Nothing in the game indicated that. Also again, can't back out of a puzzle, this time the Bento Box which makes absolutely no sense to me. I don't want to say I don't like the game but I am not finding it to have any clues as to what to do to move things along (or else I am just really stupid)!

duh

The bento boxes gave lots of people trouble. For some reason I had no trouble with them at all. Just a difference in the way minds work, I guess. I certainly have plenty of trouble with many other types of puzzles.

If there is an alarm clock to set in an ND game, then you can pretty much assume that it will be of use to mess with it, setting it at different times to see what if anything happens. I did not remember that this game had one.

It doesn't have an alarm clock. It is the alarm on her cell phone and you know I avoid cell phone use because I don't know how they work! redface

Yes, that sounds right about the cell phone. I am all thumbs with them too! I not only don't know how they work, but I don't want to know either. I have learned the basics that I have to know and otherwise am not interested in the rest.
