The newly announced adventure game Two Realms: Whispers from the Rift invites players into a beautifully hand-crafted pixel art world where mystery, emotion, and danger intertwine. Created by two indie developers, the game offers a dark, story-rich point-and-click adventure — designed for both fans of the genre and newcomers, featuring logical puzzles and an intuitive design that aims to avoid typical genre frustrations.

You play as Tobias, a young man from a quiet fishing village. When he and his younger brother stumble upon a strange crystal, the brother suddenly falls ill. Desperate to find a cure, Tobias embarks on a journey into the unknown — uncovering secrets, strange forces, and a truth that may change everything.

While many point-and-click games have earned a reputation for obscure “moon logic” puzzles, Two Realms consciously avoids that path. The game focuses on believable character actions and logical puzzle design — creating an experience that’s both challenging and satisfying, even for players who might not typically enjoy the genre.

“I’ve always loved darker story-driven games, but there just aren’t that many of them,” says Jaromír Janisch, a scientist who paused his research career to make this game. “I wanted to create something I would enjoy — something that adds another meaningful entry to the genre for fellow fans. One that respects your time, your intelligence, and one that stays with you even long after you’re done with it.”

The game’s distinct visual style comes from artist Tomáš Létal, who originally worked as a concept artist before discovering pixel art as a storytelling tool. “Pixel art is a beautiful medium,” says Létal. “It leaves space for imagination, while still letting you build entire worlds. Bringing life to these scenes through animation has been one of the most enjoyable parts of the project.”

Two Realms: Whispers from the Rift is being developed by MOD42, a two-person indie studio, and is planned for release in 2026.
