Tomorrow brings another 5 BN game with it - a New Legendary Tales game. It is a long one - the strategy guide, I've been told, has 99 pages. wave

I am still playing Halloween Stories: The Neglected Dead. It is not that long of a game; I just haven't been playing often. I just annoyed myself though. There was one puzzle I tried 2 times just with the hope of getting lucky but today I gave it a genuine try and after 45-50 minutes I skipped it. Okay. Now comes another puzzle of a type that I often feel is unfair. I tried it a few times, just restarting, but then I got frustrated with it and instead of getting out of the game, I skipped it and then had to get out of the game anyway because I annoyed myself by letting the game get the better of me.

Just replayed Angelica Weaver: Catch Me When You Can. It's by Mumbo Jumbo games. They organized in or around 2001 when a group of designers split off from another company. The company pulled the plug around around 2016-2018. Even though I thought Angelica Weaver, released in 2012, was their best game, they were probably better known for their Midnight Mystery games semi-based on factual events such as Mark Twain's Mississippi River travels and the Salem Witch trials.

It's been a long time since I last played it. The graphics are quite good. Better than most games released today. Of particular note is the opening cut scene. The seamless tracking sequence is as good as most equivalent scenes found in true adventures. I would say it's about 50% HO and a similar amount of true puzzling. The puzzle portions are quite difficult. If there is a shortcoming it's the fact that all interactions between our protagonist and the other characters are static illustrations. It's a shame since the designers put so much effort into the graphics. Still, there is a reason the game made it into my Top 20 list.

BTW, there was an article in the Chicago Tribune a few years ago that discussed Jack the Ripper and his real identity. Seems the characters in Angelica Weaver have some basis in fact. IOW the characters weren't made up. A fair amount of research went into the game.

For whom the games toll.
They toll for thee.

Thanks for that, rtrooney. I too thought Angelica Weaver was a good game. It was so long ago that I played it that it would be a new game to me now. I will put it on my replay list. smile

I played Angelica Weaver sometime in 2018 but I don't really remember it at all and I just took a look at some videos of it. That's odd because Chicago and Jack the Ripper are two things that interest me. smile

Finished my Lost Lands game today and thoroughly enjoyed it - despite finding some of the puzzles sometimes complicated and (for me) quite difficult redface

It is a game I definitely recommend so I'll add it to the list of Favourite/Recommended Casuals thumbsup
