Mr Winter is here. He brought sunshine, snow and cold temperatures.

Better staying indoors with coffee.

Happy Friday GameBoomers!

Good Saturday afternoon. We are supposed to get a visit from Mr. Winter next week, but without the snow.

We had a problem in the basement last night that required a lot of cleaning in the basement. I got up to use the bathroom at 5 am and there was the most god-awful smell upstairs. I went downstairs and it was worse. I opened the door to the cellar and that was where it was coming from. Because of my knees, I don't go down there unless I need something, but I found a huge pool of some kind of horrid smelling liquid and an empty white plastic bottle in the middle of it with the bottom busted out. Hubby has some shelves down there and something had disturbed some stuff and knocked this bottle off the shelf... it was tile sealer which I guess I used to seal a tiling job I did behind the bathroom sink downstairs a long time ago. We had to turn off the furnace and open up all the windows and turn on the whole house attic fan to try to pull some of the stench out!

The only varmint I can think of that could get down there is a snake, so I'll to keep my eye out. I actually like snakes, but I prefer they live outdoors!

Good Grief !! What an upset !!

But the thoughts of a snake getting into my house isn't acceptable - I'm nervous of even the most un-obnoxious spider !! lol
[And I know you get bad versions of spiders as well, Draclvr rolleyes]

Thankfully, the only really bad snake we have here in the UK is the Adder. And the places they tend to frequent most are moorlands and suchlike.

So when I lived on the N.Yorks.Moors and walked my dog, I had to have eyes in the back of my head because she would just run full tilt at anything that moved in the grass.
And in fact once disrupted a wasp nest on the side of a bridal path and we had to make a run to a nearby stream to escape them.
But tethered next to the stream was a huge BULL scared

Boy !! Did she get a telling off THAT day devilchili

Drac, that sounds terrible but when I first started reading I was picturing a plumbing mishap so I guess the broken bottle and smell could have been worse. Probably a good thing you had to use the bathroom.

Mad, you have the greatest stories!

Good evening, all.

The pond guys were back today and completely rebuilt the pond from scratch, including a whole new liner. Here's hoping they got it this time.

I'm off to CR tomorrow for a 70th birthday party, staying overnight at the lodge that's two minute's drive from my old house. My friend has rented the lodge's entire restaurant for the event, with a DJ. Should be fun. John and I ate there many times over the years.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, have a wonderful time tomorrow! It really sounds fun.

The stench is still pretty bad, especially in the basement. Hubby cleaned and cleaned. I just hate to turn the furnace back on because that will just pick up the stinky air and circulate it through the house again. It's just such a nasty chemical smell. We turned on the gas fireplace to warm up the house and it's only supposed to get down into the mid 40's tonight, so maybe it won't run.
