Mr Winter is here. He brought sunshine, snow and cold temperatures.

Better staying indoors with coffee.

Happy Friday GameBoomers!

Good Saturday afternoon. We are supposed to get a visit from Mr. Winter next week, but without the snow.

We had a problem in the basement last night that required a lot of cleaning in the basement. I got up to use the bathroom at 5 am and there was the most god-awful smell upstairs. I went downstairs and it was worse. I opened the door to the cellar and that was where it was coming from. Because of my knees, I don't go down there unless I need something, but I found a huge pool of some kind of horrid smelling liquid and an empty white plastic bottle in the middle of it with the bottom busted out. Hubby has some shelves down there and something had disturbed some stuff and knocked this bottle off the shelf... it was tile sealer which I guess I used to seal a tiling job I did behind the bathroom sink downstairs a long time ago. We had to turn off the furnace and open up all the windows and turn on the whole house attic fan to try to pull some of the stench out!

The only varmint I can think of that could get down there is a snake, so I'll to keep my eye out. I actually like snakes, but I prefer they live outdoors!

Good Grief !! What an upset !!

But the thoughts of a snake getting into my house isn't acceptable - I'm nervous of even the most un-obnoxious spider !! lol
[And I know you get bad versions of spiders as well, Draclvr rolleyes]

Thankfully, the only really bad snake we have here in the UK is the Adder. And the places they tend to frequent most are moorlands and suchlike.

So when I lived on the N.Yorks.Moors and walked my dog, I had to have eyes in the back of my head because she would just run full tilt at anything that moved in the grass.
And in fact once disrupted a wasp nest on the side of a bridal path and we had to make a run to a nearby stream to escape them.
But tethered next to the stream was a huge BULL scared

Boy !! Did she get a telling off THAT day devilchili

Drac, that sounds terrible but when I first started reading I was picturing a plumbing mishap so I guess the broken bottle and smell could have been worse. Probably a good thing you had to use the bathroom.

Mad, you have the greatest stories!

Good evening, all.

The pond guys were back today and completely rebuilt the pond from scratch, including a whole new liner. Here's hoping they got it this time.

I'm off to CR tomorrow for a 70th birthday party, staying overnight at the lodge that's two minute's drive from my old house. My friend has rented the lodge's entire restaurant for the event, with a DJ. Should be fun. John and I ate there many times over the years.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Hagatha, have a wonderful time tomorrow! It really sounds fun.

The stench is still pretty bad, especially in the basement. Hubby cleaned and cleaned. I just hate to turn the furnace back on because that will just pick up the stinky air and circulate it through the house again. It's just such a nasty chemical smell. We turned on the gas fireplace to warm up the house and it's only supposed to get down into the mid 40's tonight, so maybe it won't run.

Good Saturday morning. Nice sunny day ahead.

Oldbroad, I thought of you when I went to bed last night and figured you wouldn't get any sleep! I'm sure all will go well and you will be back up and running in no time. When It's all said and done, I have a feeling you are going to wish you had done this sooner as you internet connection has always been a bit sketchy now and then.

Still stinky, but far better than yesterday. The worst of it is in the basement. Think I'll have hubby open up the cellar door for the day to help dissipate it. I still want to know what caused the ruckus down there!

Good morning everybody,

Naturally it's pouring rain since I have to drive up to Campbell River. I think I'll stop in at Courtenay on the way up, maybe have lunch somewhere, and just take my time. The highway can get pretty hairy when it's raining.

Good luck, Oldbroad! I'm sure it will be okay.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good afternoon everyone. Had a great walk this morning with temps in the low 70s. Made a quick grocery run this morning as I totally missed an item yesterday and it was a required item for breakfast this morning...oops. Enjoying the WADDB and bagels before I continue with the day's tasks. Safe travels Hagatha. Hope all goes well OldBroad. Best wishes for clearing the air Draclvr.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! wave

It worked!!!! Not at first though, of course. The man was here for about 2 hours. After 1 hour he told me I was good to go. Wrong. The phone wouldn't work. It took almost an hour to get that going. Although, now it is VOIP and if my internet goes out so does my phone, so what is the point?? Anyway, I am so glad it is over. Will have to see if the downloads are any quicker. This is supposed to be only about double speed (actually a little less than double) what I had before.

The worries came from conflicting information from various AT&T people and that video that they sent. Thankfully, they did NOT have to access my phone box which is buried behind paneling or somewhere. They drilled a new hole in my wall. The old place where the lines come in are just decoration now. Next I'll have to see if I am charged for something. According to all the notices to upgrade I shouldn't be, but we'll see. I hardly even care just so long as it is done! I wanted to tell the man to dust himself off before going in a different house but I'm sure he will figure that out. He had dust clinging to him from my house.

I am finally just now having my cup of coffee. Ooh, ooh, it is good!

Edit: I apparently mis-understood the download speed. I just tested it and it was really fast. Something that would have taken an hour + a little only took about a minute! Woo Hoo!!!

Excellent news, oldbroad, and very happy for you that you are up and running AND with a nice fast internet yay

No, your landline won’t work if you suffer a power cut. (Mine doesn’t.)
But I CAN use my mobile.

Enjoy yourself now !! 😑😑😑

You guys have had quite some adventures it seems. Why do gaming when there is real life.

Over here mostly peaceful and calm. The snow is gone. 3 Celsius and cloudy. WADDB in the cup.

Happy Sunday GameBoomers,

with or without sunshine

Good Sunday morning. I agree Fogfighter - I much prefer peaceful and calm! I'm looking forward to a good old winter blizzard to just snuggle in for the day!

Just found out we won't have to suffer through Thanksgiving dinner with my poor DIL's insufferable father. She is a supervisor at UPS and their "peak" season has already started with delivering massive amounts of packages. UPS laid off a lot of people and it won't be until after Christmas before she can stick her head above water. So, I'm very excited to get the turkey out of the freezer and get it into the refrigerator in the garage to start thawing for our dinner by ourselves Thursday.

Still stinky when the furnace runs. Gotta get that basement door open all day today again.
