Good morning everyone. We enjoyed a cool 50 F walk in the park this morning. Finished my second cup of WADDB and enjoying a bagel now. Looking forward to a day of rest after chores are done. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...everywhere I go ![[Linked Image]](https://www.gameboomers.com/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/turkey.gif) Have a wonderful day everyone

Good morning everyone.
It's an absolutely beautiful morning. I'm on my first cup of coffee, just contemplating where to have my walk today. My gutters were supposed to be cleaned this morning but I see that the the appointment has been cancelled.
My Ember heated mug finally died so I bought a different kind, and it's a vast improvement, less tippy, for a start, and a much longer charge for those people who like to drink their coffee slowly as I do. It's funny how much I love these heated mugs. They come under the category of "small luxuries you had no idea you needed so much."
Yes, it's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas. Jingle Bells in the stores.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Sunday morning. VERY cold here - well below freezing. The wind is blowing which makes it even colder.
I remember when I posted about that Ember mug I got from my son, hagatha! That was a couple of years ago. Mine is still going strong! I remember we both agreed it's some of those "small luxuries you had no idea you needed so much!"
Seems like a good day to make soup. I have half a head of cabbage I need to use up, so I'm thinking a cabbage soup with white beans will be just the ticket.

LOL! I totally agree with you about the mug, oldbroad! I would have never considered such a frivolous thing for myself. There is an app, but I've never used it. I just put the mug on the charger every night. It's a silly thing which I would hate to be without!

Re: the Ember app -- I tried to use it once and my mug refused to heat at all, so I reset it and never tried again. My mugs just stopped charging ( I had two of them). I even bought a new charging station to see if it was that, but it was the mugs themselves. The new mugs I bought don't have a silly app -- they charge very quickly and the heat controls are right on the mug itself. Also much cheaper and heavier. Plus they have a 17 ounce size, which is great for tea. I bought a couple of extras for Christmas presents.

Good Monday morning and welcome to December! Got out my winter tablecloth for the dining room table and my little Norwegian nisse stuffies. They used to be mythical gnomes that lived in barns in the country and protected the farm. Now they live in the houses around Christmas and protect against evil spirits! I will put up my little skinny Christmas tree later. I don't do much decorating for us out here in the country.
Getting together my menu and ingredients for the shopping list for the Ranch volunteer brunch next Saturday. Haven't got a final head count yet, but it should be around 30ish people. Heading to Aldi to do the shopping tomorrow.

Good morning,
I'm off for a walk with a friend this morning. We're trying a new trail so I've got my AllTrails app set up and ready to go. It's quite chilly and it will be a brisk walk. There's a pub near the trailhead so we might go there for lunch.
I joined Facebook about six months ago as a way to find people I'd gotten out of touch with. I finally located one of the women who I grew up with in Toronto and had a nice back and forth messaging with her. Yesterday I got a call from her sister, Julie, who was my best friend growing up but who I lost touch with when she moved away. She's a chef on Sint Maarten. We hadn't been in touch for 40 years! And her sister lives in Australia. People to visit if I can get myself moving.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

FB isn't good for much, but I rely on it to keep up with my family who live far away. I am a new Great-Auntie up in Iowa!
Too danged cold for me to take my walk down to the woods! And now it's snowing again.
Just counted 19 Northern Cardinals sitting on the shrub and the deck railing waiting for a turn at the bird feeder!

Happy Monday all. I think I'm going to do even more nothing today than usual. Last Thursday I managed to talk AT&T (via online chat) to give me a $50 credit towards the installation fee of something they forced me to do. Yesterday I completed a paper application that I finally managed to get for some senior exemptions on my property tax bill which increased by $1400, even though our mayor here said there would be no increases. Fingers crossed it makes it through the mail. No Christmas decorations or shopping for us. No FaceBook either. And no Cardinals Enjoy your day everybody!

Draclvr, we don't have Cardinals here but we used to see them in our backyard in Toronto. They are beautiful birds.
Our walk today ended up being very wet and we were soaked after 2 hours of walking, but we did see two Pileated Woodpeckers in there. Once again I'm glad I had my AllTrails because we did get lost at one point.
Oldbroad I hope you get those exemptions on your property tax. As well as senior exemptions here, we can defer property tax until we sell our home, at which point we pay it with interest. It saves me thousands of dollars every year. The theory is that my property's value will increase by more than that over the years. Who knows? I can't see house prices continuing to rise but somehow they still do.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
