Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready...thanks for the emergency rations Fogfighter. wave

We are expecting snow this morning that will turn to rain late today making for a wintery mix and slushy icy roads! I'm hoping to get in a walk before the snow starts. winter

Enjoy your day everyone! wave

Good morning everyone. We had a marvelous wet night last night which we really need. Working on a grocery list for later this morning. I have 4 feeders and a patio table which are emptied every 2-3 days. The larger birds (and squirrels) feed on an old patio table I've set up down on our backyard and the Robins prefer hunting in the grass. The squirrels occasionally attempt the (squirrel proof) hanging feeders but they eventually give up and head down to the table. Enjoying WADDB and knäckebröd.

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone wave

Good Tuesday morning. Got another inch of snow last night. It so cold it might just stay around.

Didn't get my trip in town yesterday to pick up groceries to make the Ranch brunch for Saturday. We got a fast heavy snow that turned the roads and streets into a nightmare. They even closed several miles of the interstate north of here. It turned to ice quicker than it fell. So, I'm heading in this afternoon. Head count is only about 30 this year.

Good morning everyone.

I'm off to Pilates and then shopping since my fridge contains a few condiments and nothing else.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Happy Tuesday to you all! We also had a little more snow. Now we're supposed to be going into the deep freeze.

I don't feed anything except myself, but my brother is still feeding all the outdoor cats. There are quite a few that come here and one that comes in the house everyday for awhile to eat, play, and nap, then wants to go back out.

AT&T is hanging out at the alley pole again. I don't know what they're doing. I hope whatever it is doesn't mess up my internet and phone.

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning soot. connie, Draclvr, hagatha, oldbroad, Fogfighter and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark brew is ready. wave

We had rain all day yesterday, but I went for an early morning walk and made it back before it started. The ground is cold so the driveway had black ice once the rain came.

Hope you all enjoy your day! wave

Good Wednesday morning. It got down to just below 20 degrees last night, so quite cold here this morning.

Going to start doing some of the basic food prep for the marathon cooking on Thursday and Friday!

My menu is an asparagus, spinach, gruyere quiche for the vegetarians, a casserole with bacon, sausage, hash browns, peppers, cheese eggs, etc., a Cracker Barrel hashbrown casserole, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs made with butter and sour cream, bacon, blueberry muffins and a fruit platter. The Ranch provides juice, coffee, plates, etc. Everything but the fruit platter is home made.

This facility could not operate without volunteers, so we want to make sure this volunteer appreciation brunch lets them know that.

Happy Wednesday to you all!

Drac, can/will all the vegetarians eat the quiche? I knew some who wouldn't/couldn't eat eggs, milk, cheese.

Had some weird but interesting dream right before I woke up but can't remember much about it, of course.

Hope you each enjoy your day!

Oldbroad, that's vegans who won't eat eggs, milk, cheese etc. Vegetarians don't eat meat. I actually talked to the few vegetarians we have a couple of years ago and that's what they told me when I asked them what I could make for them.

Good morning everyone.

Lost a massive filling this morning while brushing my teeth. Dentist can't see me until next Wednesday. Time for a new dentist!

We're headed into rain, rain and more rain.

Yes, it's vegans who won't eat any product that comes from an animal, including dairy, eggs, and, for stricter vegans, honey (cruelty to bees). I could be a vegetarian, but never a vegan. It's very restrictive.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

There are different levels from what I have learned. Just thought I'd ask. And some people absolutely cannot eat some of that stuff without becoming violently ill. My dad's second wife couldn't eat any of that stuff or use the same knife that you cut that quiche with. Some medical thing she was born with.

Hagatha, your dentist won't take you in as "an emergency"?

Oldbroad, my dentist would not make time for me today. I'm done with him. He's done three fillings for me over the last 2.5 years, and they've all fallen out. He doesn't charge to replace them, but I'm sick of constantly having to go to his office.

My local friends have recommended a dentist ten minutes from my house, so I think I'll just go there.

I would change dentists too if all the fillings fall out, especially in such a short time. What's up with that? I love my dentist though I haven't been there for years now. I have need to go but won't anymore. For all I know, he retired since he is our age.

Excellent point, oldbroad! Which is why I have tags for each dish listing ALL the ingredients! We don't have anyone with food allergies right now, but since new volunteers and employees come in all the time, I try to make sure. I have one very, very picky eater and I have long since given up trying to do something she will eat! We laughed last time I tried and she just said, I will just eat what I can - don't worry about it!

Good Thursday morning. WAY cold last night - down to 15 degrees F. I think winter has arrived. The WADDB is especially welcome this morning.

The marathon of cooking and baking is starting today, I do the 6 pounds of bacon in the oven and I will also make my blueberry muffins today. I found a nifty 48 count mini-muffin pan at Aldi, so I can do them all at one time! Tomorrow I will put the casseroles together and make the sausage gravy. Saturday morning is basically just baking the caseroles and I do the scrambled eggs in the microwave. Luckily the Ranch is only a one minute drive! We take it all down in big beer coolers.

Connie, how was Lynda yesterday?

Good morning Draclvr, Connie, Fogfighter, Gerry, OldBroad, Hagatha and everyone. 15 F ... that's like really cold Draclvr but I imagine your cooking keeps the kitchen warm. Full moon walks at night are a lot of fun Gerry. Holy moly Hagatha, I think a new dentist is in order. Hope Lynda, Ruthie and Linda are feeling better.

Have a great day everyone wave

Happy Thursday! We have those same temps here. In the upper teens right now. I don't know how low it was during the night.

I would be loading my plate up with bacon, muffins, and fruit and hoping nobody noticed me. I love bacon but still find it a chore to cook even though I do use the oven for it now, which is way more easy than the stove.

I'll be trying to figure out what I think I might be able to cook next week so I can do my grocery list tomorrow. Today I'm making a Tamale Casserole which uses canned tamales and canned chili, crushed tortilla chips, green onions, and shredded cheese. I hope it's as simple as it sounds.

That's about it. Have a good day everyone!
