Shiny new thread! Good morning Ana, Connie, Gerry, Fogfighter, Hagatha, Draclvr, OldBroad and all who follow. Another wintery 20 F morning today enjoying WADDB and bagels. Expect a grocery run later this morning with an errand or two while I'm out and about. And then a little yard work once the temperature warms up. Have a great Wednesday everyone 🐪

Good Tuesday morning! It's slowly warming up here, soot. I'll send you some warmer weather tomorrow! Wish I could send Fogfighter some sun!
Not much going on here right now - kind of a lull before the holidays I guess!

Good morning everyone.
I'm a bit cranky this morning because the neighbour's dog woke me up with its barking. I've been over to talk the her but she just doesn't seem to care.
I'm off to Pilates this morning. Hopefully my shoulder won't be too bad; I skipped last week because it was hurting so much. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow morning to discuss the X-ray. I hope there's something actually visibly wrong with it that can be treated.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Oldbroad, dogs will be dogs, but most people don't shove their dog out the door and leave it there in the cold and rain to bark all day long, and the owner is at home all day, so she knows it's happening.
There's nothing wrong with the occasional bark, but allowing your dog to disturb neighbours all day and night is not only bad for the neighbours, it's bad for the dog. If it keeps up I'm going to make a complaint, perhaps to the SPCA and/or the municipality.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I know. He gets walked twice a day, but I never see them interacting with the poor guy. They have kid who never plays with him either.
Oldbroad, I didn't take it that way. Not to worry. I love dogs and expect to hear some barking in this very doggy neighbourhood, but this dog will bark non-stop, every ten seconds for two or three hours at a time. He's bored and wet and wants to be inside and I feel like these people just don't care about him.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning everyone.
We're getting nothing but dark days ourselves, Fogfighter. We've had torrential rains on the West Coast here in BC and down into Washington and it's been going on for days and days There's flooding to go with the dark days. Highways are closed. A lot of Christmas plan are being scuttled.
My emergency mini-generator arrived last night (we get deliveries late here) and I'll have a look at it today. I checked it out pretty carefully when I ordered it and it looked perfect. The only real issue will be where to store it because it's heavy! I I think perhaps the kitchen pantry, which has outlets for charging the generator (which is really just a giant battery with USBs and plug outlets).
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Wednesday morning. More sunshine here and warmer temps. Might even hit 55 F,
SO glad to hear your tooth is better, oldbroad.
Annual appointment with the dermatologist this afternoon. Although he removed two small cancerous spots several years ago, I haven't had anything concerning for a long time.

It's getting cold all of a sudden! And by cold I mean by our balmy West Coast standards. Hopefully we won't have freezing after all that rain.
The landscaper took out the big pine shrub that was dropping all its needles into the pond and replaced it with a tiny little thing that might be four feet tall in ten years. When I came home and saw it I just laughed. I'll put it somewhere else where it can grow in peace.
The original plant was 6' tall and provided privacy on my patio. I've asked the pond guys to bring something large and appropriate -- they do waters-caping as well as pond construction and maintenance so hopefully they'll do a bit better.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Thursday morning. It's very warmish here too, Gerry. Along with a high wind advisory!
The doctor found a small basal cell cancer on my arm which he removed and sent off to pathology. No biggie.
League bowling tonight. There are only 2 of us on my team as the others have other things going on tonight. So, it'll be an early night which is fine with me!

Good morning everyone.
I just had a chat with my doctor about my shoulder. I have both arthritis and an inflamed rotator cuff. There's a needle therapy for the inflammation, and I've got an appointment with a new physiotherapist in January. Hopefully that will help with the constant pain. Apparently the arthritis is quite bad and clearly long-standing, but the inflammation is what is causing the pain. Oh well. There are many far worse health problems.
Still more rain.
Draclvr, how is the horse? Did he make it?
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Happy Thursday all!
Back to dreary, rainy, and very windy. Warm today but temps dropping to below freezing for tomorrow. During the night, around 3 am or so, (I was still up) there was a sort of loud noise in the house or just outside or ?? It made my brother jump out of bed, which causes major dizziness for him, and I went downstairs looking too. That outdoor cat was laying calmly on his counter top (dry bar). We didn't find anything. My brother said it sounded like somebody or something hit the window but from upstairs it didn't sound that way. Anyway, he didn't find anything wrong outside today either, so I hope that's a good thing.
He had tried some of my pasta and said that he could certainly taste the garlic. I put in almost half of that bag of peeled cloves he brought home Saturday. I couldn't taste anything. Maybe the leftovers will have more flavor for me as they sometimes do.
Connie, I hope Lynda is still improving though, even if slowly.
I have also been wondering about the horse.
Have a good day everyone!

Yes, Mr. Gobbles is still with us. He went down again Monday, but this time he was able to get up by himself when tempted with some grain. He is VERY food motivated. He still looks like a skeleton, but has gained almost 100 pounds. They are pretty sure he's out of the woods as he is also gaining muscle strength.

Well, today is clean up day, we had quite the blizzard yesterday, weather report said 6 inches but with the wind & blowing snow it's up to our knees in some places around the parking lot, couldn't even see our car this morning completely covered in.The snow was partly up our front door. There was over a 100 car pile up on the highway between Edmonton & Calgary. OK, I'm done with snow, don't want any more, just spring LOL. Still have to go out today & tomorrow for last minute Christmas shopping. If you are going out please stay safe out there.

I'm so glad to hear Mr. Gobbles is on the mend. I've been afraid to ask.
Judith, that car pileup -- how horrible. I like a little bit of snow, but it sounds like you're just plain snowed in. I remember heavy snow in Toronto growing up. it was just part of life. Here, of course, there's about two snowplows in all of the region so plowing is very slow and our street never gets done.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Judith, the rain is depressing. It's been going on for weeks now and there's no sign of a letup. On the other hand, a lot of people here really don't know how to drive in snow and even a couple of inches can create chaos. On the bright side, the heavy rainfall releases me from any guilt at spending my days gaming. I've unpacked my little generator and it's charging up now. I should get myself an electric frying pan or a toaster oven for cooking in a power outage. It's got 4 USB outlets and four regular outlets and apparently plenty of power for days of use if needed. It can even run a small heater or fridge. Dandy little thing -- it's a cube about 68 x 13 inches and can be carted around as needed.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good to hear the “horse” news !!
No snow in my area yet but heavy rain, rain and more rain. There’s been a lot of flooding across the UK but I’m very thankful I’ve also been spared that ….

Good Morning everyone and Welcome to Friday! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. Sounds like a lot of extreme weather for everyone. I'm getting heavy rain and high winds today...the temperature is going to break a record today...in the 50s! But then late today it will get very cold again. Good news on Mr. Gobbles...thanks Draclvr for the update. Connie I'm glad Lynda continues to improve and hopefully she will go home soon. Hagatha you finally have an answer to your shoulder issue. I hope the therapy gives you some relief. Draclvr hope the biospy shows it got all the skin cancer cells. Have a good day everyone! Gerry

Good Friday morning. Judith, that must have been quite a blizzarrd! I remember growing up when we would have a blizzard rage for days at a time. It was hard for my dad with all the livestock to keep fed and watered.
Hagatha, that little generator sounds like it could be lifesaver if you ever lose power!
Our day yesterday started out at 57 degrees F, Gerry! But it fell rapidly overnight and the wind started howling. When I came home from bowling, it had blown over the big trash container we have to pull down to the end of the driveway for pickup on Fridays.
Christmas dinner at the American Legion tonight. I'm making a hash brown casserole to bring. They usually have a couple of big hams and everyone brings sides.

Good morning everyone.
Yes, the generator is a decent-looking resource for power-outs. One of things that sold me on it was a review that said it would, among other things, run a CPAP machine for two nights on one charge so the reviewer was able to go camping. Plus it can be charged from a car.
It's the first gorgeous morning we've had in weeks and I have to stay home to receive my washer/dryer. But if it gets done early enough I'll go for a walk.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

T.G.I.F. Good morning everyone. A normal winter sunny chilly morning in the mid 40s and then upper 50s this afternoon. Really enjoyed the rain soak yesterday...need much more to get us out of our drought. Sounds like a really nice generator Hagatha. Judith, I loved blizzard days as a kid...no school, but there was shoveling snow. Enjoy dinner tonight Draclvr. I'm off for groceries. Have a great day everyone.

Good day everyone, Putting the tree up today. it's -4F but with the wind chill it's -26, with all the snow & cold I have to say Florida is sounding really good about now. I'll be starting my Christmas baking tomorrow. I'm so happy to hear that Mr. Gobbles has a second chance at life. The weather seems bad everywhere so stay safe out there.

Oldbroad, looks like you and I are in the same Bah Humbug boat this year for Christmas. I keep my expectations low anyway. Last year there were neighbourhood parties, but this year all those people are away.

Wow, I guess the spirit of Christmas is not gone, while I was doing the tree, I sent hubby to get just a couple of things at the grocery store, when the cashier said that will be $17.34 the man in front of him packing his groceries leaned over & tapped his credit card & then said Merry Christmas. That was such a nice thing to do, now it's time to pay it forward.
