Well, the pond guys showed up this morning and are taking it apart again. Hope they get it right this time.
EDIT: Well, we're hoping it doesn't leak now, but also, they rearranged part of the pre-existing top waterfall and it looks truly lovely now, much better than before. More like a natural spring.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, soot, hagatha, Draclvr, and everyone welcome to the first weekend of 2026! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready to start the day! It's a very bright full moon here this morning...it is casting long shadows of the trees on the snow...looks beautiful! Temp is only 14 degrees, but no wind. Hagatha I hope the pond is finally fixed! Lots to do today on this cold wintery day! Gerry

Good Saturday morning. Cold, but sunny day ahead.
Taking down the Christmas tree today. It's just a skinny tree, but still takes awhile.

Good morning everyone.
It's quite warm today, and very wet. I might drag myself off to the farm market later today to get some supplies, although this weather and my shoulder have me feeling quite lazy, especially if I take any pain medication.
Now that the pond is back on, the birds are back. I frequently see Northern Flickers bathing and drinking in the pond, and there's one out there right now. To replace the large pine that anchored the pond's landscaping, the pond guys have suggested a purple smoke bush. That will be lovely, but it is deciduous, so my plan is to expand the bed and plant a large evergreen behind it to keep privacy.

Good morning Gerry, Fogfighter, Hagatha, Draclvr, Connie and all who follow. We had a great walk this morning Gerry and currently enjoying a cup of wide awake double dark brew! Time to take down Christmas and put back into storage today. I really enjoy my bird feeders too Gerry. I love the smell of evergreen trees Hagatha, sharp piney notes that feel bright and invigorating. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Good Sunday afternoon. Got the tree down and now just need to store the decorations.
Member here, Rosaboobie. send me a video of the several feet of snow they have in Northern Scotland! Her neighbor has several Labradors and they are all playing in the snow. Rosaboobie has one of the Labs and a little Jack Russell. Poor little Darcey has to follow in the Lab's paths because the snow is MUCH deeper than she is tall!
I hope oldbroad is just deep into a game - haven't heard from her for a few days.

Oh, good! I've not been checking the other forums the last few days, so missed your posts, oldbroad! My goodness, that sandwich sounds good! Can you come cook for me for awhile?!?

Yes, the sandwiches did sound good and they may have been good if somebody else had made them. Instead it ended up being another botched up mangled mess! The sandwiches were supposed to bake for 15 minutes in a greased pan, then get turned over and bake for another 10 or so minutes. When I went to turn them they didn't look like they were cooking at all and (even though I did grease the pan) they were sticking to the pan, so when I tried to turn them, not only did a lot of the bread stay stuck in the pan, but my spatula broke. So, I ended up finishing them in a pan on the stove. They really were not worth the effort!

I have started using parchment paper for stuff like that. It always seems like stuff sticks even if it shouldn't. The parchment paper for baking has been a game changer for me.

Good Monday morning. Pretty nice out there this morning and supposed to be near 60 degrees F today. No icicles here, Fogfighter! Heard from Rosaboobie in Northern Scotland and she's still snowed in! They have shut down most roads in her area.

Good afternoon everyone. Enjoyed a cup of emergency coffee and bagel before leaving this morning to take wife to an appointment. We also use parchment paper OldBroad for baking and cooking in oven ... it saves time when I'm washing pans! Yes Fogfighter, slow and easy is the way to walk when the ice is out. Have a great Monday everyone
